Pacific Festival | Tickets

Next weekend – August 16th – marks the return of Pacific Festival. Hosted inside the Back Bay Dunes of Newport Beach, this festival is a single day of ‘hip’ culture and sound that signifies summer in Southern California. Indie dance pop, sunshine tinged electronics, craft brews, and culinary skill on wheels are brought together to provide you with a day’s respite. There will be returning summer staples with new material (Poolside, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror[LIVE!]) as well as more acts that have been making quite a name for themselves (De Lux, Painted Palms, Cherry Glazerr, among many others).

Don’t think we forgot special guests and in-house favourite Holy Ghost! who are, arguably, at the helm of the post-punk, indie-dance scene. We’ve seen them quite a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Every one of their sets is packed with synth-heavy, melodic, and utterly cool vibes that we wish never end. They’re undoubtedly one of our favorite acts to see live and they’re coming to our home town! More details and contest below!!

Astre | Soundcloud

We can’t express in words how excited we are for Porter Robinson’s upcoming LP, Worlds. Today, we were graced with a remix of his recent single Flicker done by France’s Astre. It’s a cool take with some awesome samples [everybody run, its Gojira!] and an all around more upbeat vibe. All in all, it just makes us more and more excited for Porter’s upcoming show at the Shrine on Sept. 13. We’ll see you there!

Astre’s other tracks lean way more chill and fit surprisingly with the new Porter sounds we’ve heard thus far. There’s a certain triumphant feeling they give off too – perfect for moments of fruition. Check out his free EP!

French producer 20syl (of C2C) has quickly become one of the most prodigious producers of the year by combining an eclectic mix of modern hip-hop & heavy electronic styling. With a 5-track EP, music video, and a chain of quality releases, (including remixes for Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q), 20syl’s futuristic sound seems unstoppable. Donovan Blanc

Hope-tinged psychedelia for the surf-soaked wanderer is where Donovan Blanc thrives. This New Jersey duo is blending new wave rapture with mellowed out 60’s and 70’s beach pop-rock catch. I envision rays flowing crepuscular and breathing through purple, red, and orange. The otics are equally as dreamlike in a free form kind of way.

Their self-titled LP came out on Captured Tracks last month. Stream it, then buy it.

This morning, Majestic Casual got premiering rights for Darius’s new remix of Bondax. Lucky bastards. Ever since Terence put Cherokee on the backburner, he’s consistently given French House aficionados music to drool over. His productions always manage to mentally take you away from where you are; they just simply put you at ease. This release is no different.
