The illustrious psychedelic rock group FINALLY show signs of life with their new synth heavy single “Let It Happen.” A few months ago Kevin Parker said that they would be leaning more on the electronic/synthy side with upcoming releases. I’m sure some people will find a reason to be upset about that, but I was seeing them moving toward a more Jagwar Ma sound while still staying true to their style.

This extended track starts off smooth as butter; everything we love about the group. Around 5:30 they make use of the vocoder and it’s somewhat reminiscent of Midnight Juggernauts. I included a Midnight Juggies song below, because if you’re not familiar, you should be! Enjoy.

Gravez is making his way up the ranks of the underground as one of its more talented producers. From Soulection to Athletixx, the dude’s got connections in all the right places. Sango has been playing out this tune in all his sets, and for good reason. Only Gravez could pull a Pitbull sample and sound this fly.

There’s nothing quite like waking up and seeing a collaboration between two of your most admired producers. I haven’t seen many artists have the same kind of all encompassing reach in the music scene quite like ODESZA has. They’ve gotten props from people all across the board. From Wu Tang Clan to ZHU, so it’s pretty well regarded at this point that these guys are a force to be reckoned with.

This remix shows their slower, more chilled out and groovy side. With Katie Herzig’s vocals slowly building to a fast paced and synth heavy dance sesh that ODESZA is so good at.

Last week we had the pleasure of freezing our asses off in northern California’s b-e-a-utiful city of Lake Tahoe. The electronic/hip hop festival hybrid saw its fourth anniversary in the woodsy wonderland. Studded with an all-star lineup, SnowGlobe featured some of the more cutting edge acts in the underground electronic music scene…and Atmosphere, who was the only true hip hop act on the bill. Check after the jump for more on the festival and the artists that made it extra special.

Fasten your seat belts friends. Prepare for departure. Aeroplane is ready to blast off into discoville with a fuel tank filled to the brim with funk and groove. Didn’t know you could operate machinery with solely funk and groove?! It’s never too late to learn something new.

On the real though, this guy has been one of the most consistent disco house producers in the scene. Once a duo, but now the reigns have been taken by Vito and he’s holding his own quite well. The other guy split off and formed The Magician…you may have heard of him. Vito’s remixes and mixes are something we always can count on to be extremely special. Now we get to see him in the snow on the beautiful lands of Tahoe!

Vito is headlining THE IGLOO stage on Monday night, but he’s also playing an afterparty on a boat with Snakehips that same night!!! Everything I love. Get tickets to that here.

Portland, Oregon’s Emancipator is a trip-hop sensation. His ethereal productions are usually accompanied by orchestral and tribal instruments when he plays live. Lucky for us, his SnowGlobe performance will feature the ensemble! It’s the type of music that was literally made to be heard in a woodsy environment like that of Tahoe. This kind of music under the stars is going to be hard to beat.

Emancipator – Diamonds

Emancipator – Minor Cause

There’s not much to say about that needs to be said about this track that the title doesn’t already cover. The song itself almost seems like more of an edit then a remix. I don’t want that to take anything away from it. It’s beautiful.

Tycho puts his signature touch with dreamy arpeggios and floaty synths on top of Spoons “Inside Out.” Britt Daniel’s voice complements Tycho’s ethereal vibe so perfecly. I can totally see Tycho playing this out live as he’s been performing with a full band lately. Takes me back to his set at Outside Lands. On a hill in San Francisco. Lying on a blanket. Empanada in hand. Beer and jay at the ready. Just the absolutely perfect situation. I’m not trying to brag…just see him. Enjoy the tune below.
