Soulection has always been very much welcomed in the Bay Area, and thanks to DJ Dials for booking their crew consistently, their fan base has grown considerably. Last time Sango was in town, he tore apart 1015 Folsom, but over the weekend he upgraded to the beautiful Regency Ballroom for a packed house.
Dials notoriously opens his own shows (I would too), and he can set the tone for any booking he sets. Right from the get go, the vibe was right and everyone was ready for the smooth trimmings of Monte Booker. I had seen this guy’s name around, but this was the first time I got to listen to his music. His set was filled with sultry beats and four on the floor tempos that perfectly complemented what was about to come.
Sango is a legend. As one of the back bones of the Soulection crew, you can always expect for him to bring the heat and keep it unique. His Brazilian and Latin inspired beats always get me going. Everyone was hype from top to bottom, and the night was capped in a way only one of Soulection’s founding fathers could do.
