His tour for the album will be hitting LA at the legendary Roxy on Friday September 12th! Next weekend – August 16th – marks the return of Pacific Festival. Hosted inside the Back Bay Dunes of Newport Beach, this festival is a single day of ‘hip’ culture and sound that signifies summer in Southern California. Indie dance pop, sunshine tinged electronics, craft brews, and culinary skill on wheels are brought together to provide you with a day’s respite. There will be returning summer staples with new material (Poolside, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror[LIVE!]) as well as more acts that have been making quite a name for themselves (De Lux, Painted Palms, Cherry Glazerr, among many others).
Don’t think we forgot special guests and in-house favourite Holy Ghost! who are, arguably, at the helm of the post-punk, indie-dance scene. We’ve seen them quite a few times and have yet to be disappointed. Every one of their sets is packed with synth-heavy, melodic, and utterly cool vibes that we wish never end. They’re undoubtedly one of our favorite acts to see live and they’re coming to our home town! More details and contest below!!

Hope-tinged psychedelia for the surf-soaked wanderer is where Donovan Blanc thrives. This New Jersey duo is blending new wave rapture with mellowed out 60’s and 70’s beach pop-rock catch. I envision rays flowing crepuscular and breathing through purple, red, and orange. The otics are equally as dreamlike in a free form kind of way.
Their self-titled LP came out on Captured Tracks last month. Stream it, then buy it.

The fusing of genres becoming even more common place in electronic music nowadays brings many new sounds to the game. That’s not to say this is easy to do. Some more electronic; more indie. Others a little too experimental; or the sounds just don’t mesh. Slow Magic has found a happy medium between catchy beats, creative sampling, soulful pianos, and uplifting synths, all wrapped into a glorious package of new music.
With his debut album How To Run Away (set to release on September 9th via Downtown Records), comes two singles that show a lot of promise. His range of dreamy vibes to groovy, powerful rhythms can’t go unmentioned. The dude has got some serious remix value as well. Check the tunes below and his tour dates after the jump.
