Daniel Goldstein, or Lane 8 only seems to get better with time; we always make it a point to support him whenever he comes around SoCal and we’re never disappointed. With his debut album, Rise, dropping the day the fest begins, we can expect him to play a rather emotional set. And judging from the prime vocal features on the album, we’re hoping for some special guest appearances.

Catch us among the wave of feelings washing over the forest.

Ouija Entertainment and L’Affaire Musicale return on 7|15 with quite the emotion laden lineup. Oliver Nelson, Hayden James, and Dallas Cotton cover the feelings spectrum in their particular realms of nu-disco, future house, and beats, respectively. That’s not to say they’re limited only to those styles of music, however. Judging from the several times we’ve seen Hayden James, we can tell you that he knows how to work a crowd. Oliver and Dallas both have melodic ranges in their Soundcloud buckets too so expect fire tracks while they’re on deck. That said, this lineup is definitely the most eclectic we’ve seen from this team up.

The sounds of Dino Soccio, Mister Blaqk, January Black, and L’Affaire’s own Maikol only add to the broad range of sounds we’ve come to expect from a Ouija and L’Affaire party. As always, drinks are on the house from 9-10, so come early and listen to the homies start us off in high spirits for what promises to be a good midsummer’s night.

Not one to be pigeonholed, Ghostly International co-founder Matthew Dear (also well known under alias Audion) has experience and skill in all things dance, experimental, techno, and house. He’s coming to Costa Mesa to drop a DJ set this Friday; expect to hear a wide mix of sounds from all across the spectrum. To top it all off, this experience marks WAVS’ one year anniversary of sharing awesome music and times with you at The Wayfarer.

HKEK and Torosbros will be keeping the early night festivities eclectic as well. Come and celebrate our first year!

If, among the redwoods, you’re looking for music that definitely stands out for the rest, we highly suggest you check out Awesome Tapes from Africa. While the music he plays is an immediately striking blend of afrobeat, electronic, and soul, it is equally interesting that he does it all using cassette tapes. Rare sounds and a rare mixing style means his performance will be quite intriguing. We’re not likely to miss it.

While the fourth generally means going big and spending bucks on big names, the MDA crew sees things a bit differently. For our Independence WAVS festivities, we’ll be bringing everything to you FREE of cover and cheaper at the counter. Beers, Wells, and Gourmet Links of America will be offered at $5 apiece.

Freedom Friday! Take 2 Entertainment is helping us celebrate our nation’s 239th birthday with space disco at V Lounge in Santa Monica. Fitting, if we say so ourselves. Moon Boots will help us blast off this weekend’s festivities with his distinctly chill and funky features.
