Skinny Genes

I’ve been making a lot of promises to get on with this post, and so the time has come. Wolfgang Gartner is coming up in a big way. I don’t know about you but with a weird ass name like that I assumed he was another European DJ making his name in the U.S. Wrong. Fool’s from Austin, Texas. How he stumbled on that name is beyond me.

I had heard his name here and there and got a few tracks from my buddy Maxim, but he really hit home with me when I saw him at coachella. He’s got the same glitchy, kinda dark, hard bass-y, progressive house thing going on that people who appreciate deadmau5 and Felguk would instantly love. The guy was my second favorite at EDC (followed closely behind Duck sauce). Not a moment of mediocrity in his entire set.

SO! I got a high quality live recording of his set from the Winter Music Conference in Miami that’s pretty comparable to the EDC set. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it. Jam out to these tracks.

WMC 2010
Fire Power Delightful Choice!
Undertaker
Hook Shot

BONUS!
let this Duck sauce track hold you off ’til i make the post

Barbra Streisand (Baby Diego edit from scratch) Delightful Choice!

all these tracks are for promotional purposes only and if you want them removed email contactalijafari@gmail.com

Electronic music is coming up in a big way, which is great. DJs today are putting together some of the nastiest, funkiest, hardest shit I’ve ever heard (shout out to Wolfgang Gartner). It’s time to look back at the influences of our generation in this genre. The godfathers of what we know as electronic today are none other than a combination of Daft Punk and Justice…in my opinion. Honarable mention: Soulwax, Boys Noize, sebastiAn and the Ed Banger crew. I know neither of these duos are in need of an introduction.

For tonight, I thought I’d make a throwback post to the album that really hit electronic home for me: Cross by Justice. This album made the transition into loving electronic music that much easier. It’s flawless from beginning to end. With classics like “D.A.N.C.E.,” “DVNO,” and “TTHHEE PPAARRTTYY” anyone can get down, whether you like electronic or not. They introduced a harder, more bass oriented aspect to electronic, and you can tell they had a lot of fun with it (I know they did on tour). Anyway, download and listen to this album. Become familiar with it because it get’s a lot of attention in DJ sets, rightfully so. This is one of those albums that’s never a bad idea to shuffle through.

9.5/10

A little somethin’ Extra:
We are your friends – Justice vs. Simian

This is the song that started it all for Justice. Straight up anthem-of-a-revolution type shit.

It’s hard for me to look at that lineup and not simultaneously climax all over my computer. I’m only saying this because it pretty much screams “YOU’RE GONNA HAVE ONE OF THE BEST NIGHTS OF YOUR LIFE ON AUGUST 7TH!” The featured artist for this event would have to be Soulwax, hands down. You’ll all see, as this blog goes on, that I have a massive amount of love and respect for Soulwax as DJs and producers. They were there at the beginning of my electronic music endeavors and have remained at the top of my list ever since. The last time they were in the US was at HARD Haunted Mansion 2008, which could quite possibly have been one of the best electronic lineups of all time and ended up putting HARD on the map. (sebastiAn was a special guest, mind you). Anyway, they put on the best performance I’ve ever seen, and if you know me, that’s saying a lot.

I bet you’re asking yourself, “Why should I go to this? I barely know these DJ’s!” Alas..I’ve made a playlist of songs I like from the DJs I’ll be seeing that night for your listening pleasure. You can get the songs here. The plan is, I’m going to get a party bus to get y’all there and back safely. This isn’t the first time I’ve done it, and I promise you’ll be in good hands. I’m in high hopes that all this will push you over the edge to buy your ticket.

Tickets are around $68 on fla.vor.us but if you go to One World on Newport Blvd on Costa Mesa, you can get the hard copy ticket for a few bucks cheaper and dodge the will call line. Let’s party on august 7th.

Hello everybody!

So I’ve been putting this off for way too long, and I’ve missed genuine opportunities to give you all music and information about events and artists you should know about if you don’t already. Run-on sentences aside, this stops now.

Initially I wanted to write for a good friend of mine’s blog at DSCOTECH. There were no big problems. In fact, I was pumped given the opportunity, because he’s got a really good thing going. I highly recommend following his blog also for extra electronic music needs. The only problem was that I didn’t want to be restricted to any one genre.

Here at C+A+D my goal is to give and keep giving ’til there’s nothing left to give. Whether it be music; or information on where to get tickets to a concert; or information about a concert (like who you should look out for); or information on album/track releases .. the list goes on. There won’t be any limits here. From electronic to indie to hardcore to hiphop to disco to country, I don’t discriminate by genre. If it’s good, it’ll be up here, and you’re going to know about it whether you like it or not.

That being said, welcome. I hope you find use in this site, because I’m gonna put some quality time into it. Music is everything to me, so I hope to transfer at least some of the love and happiness it brings me everyday. Feel free to email me with requests and questions.
