Speak of the devil in our last post.. Sweater Beats is coming to our home town! This show is the premier of our partnership with the homies over at Modern Disco Ambassadors. The plan is to bring Orange County a much needed addition to its budding music culture. Sure, I love going to LA. It’s hard to compete. But have I the chance to take an Uber over to an awesome bar with even better music, you can bet your sweet ass I’ll take it. Sweater Beats’ [Antonio Cuna] forthcoming EP, Cloud City, is full of high-energy R&B beats we’ve come to love from him. In this EP, he sends us soaring by lifting the dreamy beats with aerated synths and piano riffs. The added vocals from soulstress allie on ‘Dark Matter’ are a welcome bonus. Here’s to hoping this beat-maker’s future reaches new heights as well.

The Free EP comes out via HW&W tomorrow [10|28]. Get it, and then be sure to catch him at Day of the Dead this weekend!

Everyone has their own ‘special secret’ artist. Mazde was mine. But seeing as the boys at Stoney Roads know a thing or two about making a splash with their new record label, I figure the cat is out of the bag.

No worries though, cause this German is absolutely worth the attention. His remixes and their resemblance to Flume are likely what gained him followers [definitely got me]. His sound, and Shifted Thoughts, pushes on much more like the Fluminati had a sizzurp party.

What started from humble beginnings of chasing love through sound in the naked deserts of California has since evolved into a weekend long gathering of like minded, world loving, wildly accepting and passionate souls. Our first introduction to the Desert Hearts crew was at LIB 2014‘s The Ditch when Mikey Lion and Lee Reynolds guided us into the sunrise.

From November 7th through November 10th, we’ll be joining the Desert Hearts crew in their natural habitat. They will be curating their Second Anniversary of renegade love at Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. We missed out on their spring installment – and some chance snowfall – and we’re not keen on doing that again. You shouldn’t be either. Especially with a lineup like this. If you’re a fan of the famed Robot Heart, then you’ll recognize quite a few names such as Francesca Lombardo and Benjamin Alexander. But Funktion-Ones and 70 hours of the best house and techno aren’t the only reason to attend. Rather, they are but means to help escape the turmoil of concrete and asphalt; and to encouraging self-expression.

If you’ve ever been interested in experiencing the artistry and creative magic of Burning Man or LIB, then Desert Hearts will definitely provide you a worthy glimpse. Strap on some dust kickers, pack a tent, snacks, and join us as we celebrate life, art, earth, and music with the Desert Hearts crew. But remember, bring it all back out with you. No trash is the best trash.

Tickets are still available! The community begins on Friday at 10am. Music starts at 4pm Friday and continues until Monday at noon. Tickets include entrance, camping, and access to all open kitchens, theme camps, and art installations.

Earlier this year, we had the fortunate pleasure of catching Australia’s RÜFÜS DU SOL at one of their free pop up shows at SXSW. (If you don’t know how the music “festival” SXSW works, direct yourself here.) These electronic wonder-kids made our list of top upcoming acts of 2014 to watch for, and for good reason. Take a bit of Cut Copy, a dash of Jagwar Ma, and a smidge of Classixx and you got yourself a nice RÜFÜS fondue.

These guys are as groovy as they come. Backed by live vocals and a full band, they’re an unmissable act to catch. Lucky for us they have Hermitude opening up, and where better than the Fonda in Hollywood? Check below for your chance to win a couple tickets and after the jump for some tunes. <3
