There’s no denying that An-Ten-Nae was one of our faves at LIB 2013. Since then, he’s partnered up with Re|eece to create music as Dimond Saints. Under this moniker, the two are mashing future beats with the deep bass sound that LIB prides itself on. It’s easy to get lost in the rhythm. Just how we like it.

Lightning In A Bottle | Lineup | Tickets | Set Times

Hopefully you’ve been with us long enough to understand our praise for Chet Faker. What started as one of Flume’s consistent collaborators, turned into one of the most promising voices of the underground. He may look grungy and intimidating with that wicked beard, but you’ll have to refrain from judging this book by its cover. This Aussie puts out one of the most emotionally confident voices that just seems to put us at ease. His downtempo beats come off as a lullaby in recording, but pack a very unique groove when performed live. (Check after the jump for his Boiler Room set.) All of this bundled with his staggering debut album Built On Glass had him make our list of the best underground acts of 2014.

He’s set to go off at 7:40 on Sunday, which is bound to be one of the best sunset performances of the weekend.

Circa Waves | Soundcloud

Mark my words: Liverpool garage rock quartet Circa Waves are going to make some pretty big waves on the indie scene, and pretty soon. Formed in 2012, they have already been signed to Virgin records, touring with the likes of Interpol, and performing at major festivals in the UK, before even dropping their debut album. With pulsing rhythms reminiscent of the Vaccines and punkish lure akin to the Libertines, it’s no wonder they have already garnered attention from the likes of NME and Zane Lowe. Their music is undeniably addictive, marked with a youthful charm and a sense of urgency. Listen to their music below and be sure to be on the look out for their debut.

Kraak & Smaak are a trio from the Netherlands who have that whole “anti-genre” vibe about them that we love. You’ll find hints of jazz, disco, funk, indie, soul, pop, and house all throughout their music. Their 2013 album Chrome Waves is one of my favourites. They also host a weekly show on Sublime FM called Keep on Searching that spotlights the current underground as well as some rare, old school, dug-up tracks. It’s amazing.

They’re playing at 8:50pm on Saturday at the Lightning Stage – don’t miss out on what is promising to be a smooth and funky set.

Antimatter People

Kitsune is a trusted name in the realm of music and fashion. As it is in our case, their New Faces compilation features some, well, new faces in the sound game. Antimatter People is one of those ensembles that deserves a special heads-up. We’ve well learned you can never have enough psychedelic rock jams reminiscent of Pink Floyd circulating your ears; even more so when the production is as pristine as it is. This group adds a special flair that we’ve yet lately heard anywhere else (catch that Schubert coverage in “Only Ark”).

What So Not @ IHEARTCOMIX Showcase

South By South West (stylized: SXSW) is unlike your typical music festival. First off, it’s not just a music festival. It’s three weeks long and split into technology, film, and music sections. The entire downtown of Austin, Texas and its outskirts get overrun by pop-up venues and converted restaurants to allow bands and DJs of all kinds to perform in their city. The best part? The music festival is pretty much free if you’re 21+. Everything is run by RSVPs and waiting in line. All you have to pay for is your flight, stay, and the best BBQ you will ever have in your life.

Every year SXSW cultivates artists from around the world to showcase what the upcoming year holds. Being the first proper music festival of the year, this gives upcoming and established artists alike a chance to create their buzz for the year during festival season. Some of these acts play for sub 500 person venues before performing in front of thousands later on in the year! This provides an insanely special environment for both the performers and fans. Kaytranada | Soundcloud

I don’t know if it’s this future beats bubble I’ve been living in lately, albeit comfortably, but Montreal’s Kaytranada is swiftly making a huge impact on the scene. After collaborations with Mobb Deep, remixes of Disclosure and Banks, this dude is getting props from all the right people. His dynamic expertise and consistency in hip hop, electronic, and funk really sets him apart from a lot of producers out there. You can fall asleep to it or get mean to it at a show…my favorite! I posted some of his most special reworks below (everything on his soundcloud is worth hearing).

He’s playing with Purity Ring in LA on Friday! Crops of vibes WILL be cultivated.
