Our Odesza InterviewOur Slow Magic Interview

Just when I thought life couldn’t get any better, two of my favorite artists come together in a recreation of Slow Magic’s best track. In my opinion at least. They take the already emotional track to a new level that refuses to let me sit still. ODESZA really has that Midas touch when it comes to their remixes. This one is no different. Enjoy friends.

Ouija Entertainment | Tickets | Event Info

Hey friends! CAD4.0. MDA team-up. Life is good.

And it just got better. We’re excited to finally release news of our partnership with Ouija Entertainment. The first fruit of this comes Thursday [11.13]. Penguin Prison, SNBRN, AfroWhitey, and KidB are our musical stars. Absolut and Avion: our libations [come early and check the open bar from 9-10!]

Penguin Prison sets are always something special. The added touch of live vocals over his indie-pop originals have quite the effect. And then there’s introduction to his influences by way of DJ set. Think sunset-house and disco vibes. Add SNBRN to the mix – his recent Dirty South remix was emotional, to say the least – and we’re looking at quite a feel-good party. Our favourite kind of party. Win some tickets and come add to the mood!

Every year there is a certain producer that really moves me in a special way. Physically, yeah…But emotionally too. Flume in 2012, Kaytranada in 2013, and now Denmark’s Galimatias. The way he produces his tracks so beautifully is instantly captivating. He manages to maintain integrity with everything he touches, while also adding his own style of bouncy energy. I always find listening to his music as an incredibly immersive experience.

He recently released a remix of Justin Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” that I had been searching for from FKJ’s funky mix. I want to say that I’m surprised it was him, but I’d be lying. It’s so catchy and groovy, AND it rivals Aeroplane’s disco remix from last year. You’ll see just how big of a star Galimatias is when you hear the few tracks he did with the absolutely beautiful voice of Alina Baraz. Scope the tunes below, and keep an eye out for this dude. I’m tellin’ ya!

RÜFÜS DU SOL | Soundcloud | Buy Atlas | TICKETS

Earlier this year, we had the fortunate pleasure of catching Australia’s RÜFÜS DU SOL at one of their free pop up shows at SXSW. (If you don’t know how the music “festival” SXSW works, direct yourself here.) These electronic wonder-kids made our list of top upcoming acts of 2014 to watch for, and for good reason. Take a bit of Cut Copy, a dash of Jagwar Ma, and a smidge of Classixx and you got yourself a nice RÜFÜS fondue.

These guys are as groovy as they come. Backed by live vocals and a full band, they’re an unmissable act to catch. Lucky for us they have Hermitude opening up, and where better than the Fonda in Hollywood? Check below for your chance to win a couple tickets and after the jump for some tunes. <3

ODESZA | Soundcloud | Buy In Return

Last week I finally had the chance to sit down with Odesza to get in this interview that’s been a year in the making. I tried to catch them right before their tour with Pretty Lights, because I knew the following year was going to be huge for them. It wasn’t until they finally came back to LA in the midst of an enormous sold out tour that we could chat about their past, present, and future. ODESZA a huge inspiration to many artists currently in the scene and very deservedly so. They’re amongst the select few individuals setting the bar for electronic music as far as production and live shows. Catch the details after the jump!

Blood Moon | Imaginary Friends

The homies at Imaginary Friends recently launched their record label and like many of the independent labels nowadays, their goal is a respectable one:

“we started Imaginary Friends as a way to help up and coming independent artists and our friends get the attention we feel they deserve. Music these days, even on the independent level, is so unfortunately wrapped up in its own set of politics, numbers games and hype calculating. Imaginary Friends is our response to those things we’re tired of [. . .]. Our primary goal is to work with people and music we feel strongly about, nothing more and nothing less.”

To show they mean business, they’ve kicked off with the release of Brooklyn’s Blood Moon’s [Jesse Brickel] premiere track ‘Ghost’. 80’s-heavy synths and forlorn lyrics create the nostalgic, slightly melancholic, and definitely catchy indie-pop sound that we love. His debut EP, Cosmic Sands, comes out November 11. Pre-order it here.
