Feed Me having a brand of cigarettes would be pretty fitting. I liken listening to the array of sounds the little fucker puts together to something similar to smoking a cigarette. Gotta inhale deep (pay close attention) to get the full effect of the nicotine (understand the genius). Hits hard in all the key body parts – lungs/nervous system/heart/brain. And first timers would find themselves struggling for breath. He and Gemini produced a winner here. If you were to blend senses, this track is kinda sweet, kinda sour – like auditory watermelon sour patch kids. I don’t really know how to explain that. The ‘drop’ is some rhythmic filth. This is off his new EP, out February 6th. He’s about to head out on tour with his Teeth set which is massive – check out a video of it and the check the tour dates after the jump.

Every so often, a combination of distortion and sing-a-long goodness comes along that rocks your soul. Mau5trap’s little gremlin Feed Me just released a cover/remix of Two Door Cinema Club‘s “What You Know,” and it’s quite a sexy combination of styles.

First up is Asher Roth‘s Ampersand, a laid back tune that Mr. Roth dropped to go with the rainy weather that’s currently taking over the East Coast. He does it dirty with his usual alliteration over a mellow beat. Always love the random track releases from Asher, look out for his album soon.

Next is another Pretty Lights mashup, this time with Led Zeppelin. I really don’t see myself ever not enjoying a Pretty Lights song. Here he mixes his head bangin’ beats with a gritty electric guitar. Anyone know what Led Zeppelin song this is mixed with?

Mau5trap spoiled us the last couple days, with the official release of Deadmau5’s “Where Are My Keys” and a new distorted, thumping electro banger from Feed Me. This track isn’t as glitchy as what we’ve heard from Feed Me before, more tolerant to the listener who can’t handle the usual grime. Very melodic and he’s still got the crispest hard electro sound I’ve heard from any artist.

Epic released another track yesterday off his upcoming EP, Third Shift. This one features Jhene Aiko, and has more of an R&B vibe than his other stuff. I love focused songwriting and this definitely demonstrates that. The concept behind his mixtape is very interesting – more on that soon when the tape is released.

Finally, we have a new track from Mac Miller, who may be the most popular artist in hip-hop right now. This is a short 2 minute jam produced by Clams Casino, but it bangs. Definitely a heavier beat than Mac usually works with, but he goes in as he usually does. This one won’t be featured on Blue Slide Park.

Alright so I’ve been waiting to talk about this song for far too long, and I won’t wait a moment longer! The first time I heard this track was when Nero threw it on their essential mix (Click to DL) a few months back. All I could do was cue the essential mix up to 58:48 to hear that banger of a track drop for a less than a minute, until last week. Nero released their “Guilt EP” and this remix was one of the bonuses. You can bet Nero wouldn’t have chosen Feed Me‘s rendition for nothing. Classic Feed Me with his unruly concoction of bass and twists and grime, but with a build up and drop that rivals most. Feed Me’s kickin’ ass and taking names, and I’m looking forward to seeing where he takes his sound in the future.

It’s 2011, you know what that means, we only have a year until the grand cycle of evolution will culminate winter solstice… humanity will face inevitable demise. Fortunately for you, I’ll be supplying fresh beats all year; when our atoms spontaneously implode on 1/1/12, our feet will be shuffling and our faces smiling.  Here’s to another year of treble, mid-range, and of course, w0mp.

Feed Me (aka Jon Gooch) joined forces with legendary mau5trap recordings back in 2008. Gooch has been periodically releasing remixes, however, his eager fan base was hungry for more. Gooch finally delivered the main course and, what a delicacy it is. Gooch went all out on this one, I’m talking steak, potatoes, french fries, cornbread… the whole nine yards. Interestingly, Feed Me’s EP has so many different influences; Skrillex bbqed the steak, Porter Robinson mashed the potatoes, Busy P battered the fries and Feed Me thew in his flavor with a dash of cornbread. So many shapes would normally feel overwhelming, but Feed Me fuses dub, glitch and house in a barrage of savory beats. My compliments to the chef.
