The hype behind Alison Wonderland’s Coachella set was well based. Her performance made it into the top 5 of our weekend. Her skill at mixing was put on display for all to see. Though we could tell she was nervous, she still blew it out of the water. Did you catch that Pharaoh Monch edit? Prime.

As a follow up, she’s coming back to SoCal to perform at El Rey on Friday [5|16]. She’ll be celebrating the release of Run. Because it is a more intimate setting, expect to hear a few more originals than at Coachella. With AWE also on the bill, it’s definitely going to be a party.

Backed by a storied history, OPIUO could play LIB by himself and the world would still be better for it. Yet, ever the one to one-up himself, he’s come into 2015 with an ambitious endeavour that seems to be paying off extremely well so far. His new setup features The Opiuo Band (a full live ensemble) and revamped lighting which promises an exceptionally stunning experience of all things art and music.

So far, he’s been journeying across Australia with this new project. He’s making his way stateside for LIB. Check the vid below to hear why he’s brought the gang together. See you there in the midst of the magic.

The Juan MacLeanPat MahoneyTickets

We’ve got ourselves a DFA takeover this Friday [5|8]! Excited is barely the right word to express our sentiments. The legends The Juan MacLean and Pat Mahoney (of LCD Soundsystem and Museum of Love) are coming in to DJ us into a nudisco stupor. Coming off a house-disco blended late 2014 release, The Juan MacLean is sure to keep the party dancing clean. We’re thinking some early 2000’s throwbacks are in store for us too. Locals Meridian West will be leading off the night. Come through early!

LIB Pre-party | Tickets

Lightning in a Bottle draws ever closer. And with it comes pre-parties featuring former and future Do Lab acts as well as a preview of the musical vibes you’ll be exposed to in Bradley, CA. Los Angeles’ leg of the pre-party circuit is stacked. There will be vibey beats a la Astronautica and Coyote Kisses; house-ier inclinations from Autograf and Justin Jay; glitchy bass thanks to Dimond Saints, G Jones, and Nominus; and deep playa leanings via Hoj and KMLN.

All in all, it’ll be an awesome dance party. For those of you who aren’t making it out to LIB, let this be your evening escape.

French Kiwi Juice, abbrv. FKJ, is a master of the smooth groove. Akin to waking up slow on a sunny Sunday afternoon, his music has a lazy day appeal that is impossible to resist. The freestyle funky basslines and ivory tickling add extra soul to an already velvet essence.

Come get syrupy with us. He’s also coming out to LA the Wednesday after LIB (5|27) for our homies at Ouija Entertainment and L’Affaire Musicale. See you there.

FKJ – Instant Need

The lead-in to summer often sees new music wiggling its way out of the woodwork as show season reaches full bloom. Here’s a mixed bag of recent sounds and styles for your travels to-and-from said gatherings.

Towkio – .Wav Theory

Towkio gathers talent from all over the beat and hip-hop game for this fiery first release. Get it free then catch him at Soulection this Saturday.

Ambassadeurs – Can’t You See

Dreamy basslines by Ambassadeurs show us that his skill is in crossing through genres with ease. Trust us, you don’t want to miss him at LIB.

Taste Nasa – Time Goes By

The sounds get silky smooth on Taste Nasa‘s latest release off Vitalic Noise. Time Goes By has us swooning to sun-kissed indie-psych-funk.

Thomston – Backbone

New Zealand’s Thomston brings on the emotions with his third EP. The R&B tempos and clouded vocals have a certain listless romanticism to them.

La Décadance – Subway

Swedish duo La Décadance sprinkle some Scandinavian pop flavor on top of minimal deep house with this latest EP. Take these wide-ranging tracks exploring.
