PillowTalk | Buy Je Ne Sais Quoi

Wolf+Lamb artists PillowTalk believe in sexy-smooth; 2011’s The Come Back exposed me to that. Their recent (and first) LP Je Ne Sais Quoi is a fusion of R&B, disco, house, dance, pop, and techno [D.A.G.!] that has surpassed all my expectations and has taken over our ears here at C+A+D. It’s been nearly 2 months of listening and we’re still finding out why we love it so much.

I like to think it is due to the heart-warming dreaminess in each track. Opener, ‘Our Story’, sets it up perfectly – this album is a soulful sonic dance adventure. The stories may differ, but the feel-good soul is absolute. They’ve put Je Ne Sais Quoi up for your free streaming pleasure on SoundCloud. Show the crew some love and buy it!

While you’re here, check out one of my all-time favourite mixes too.

Addal

I first found out about Alessandro Addea, stage name: Addal, at the end of Coachella Weekend 1. EMOTIONAL #3 provided the perfect net for the oft-dreaded Coachella Blues. I delved deeper into his sound and lost myself in love with the headiness of Waves ft. Neenah and Morning In Love ft. Lisa May.

A few days ago, along came EMOTIONAL #4; hands down one of the best mixes I’ve heard in a while. The seemingly random, yet undeniably appropriate, genre mix of songs (ZHU and Shiba San come out of nowhere) is an attestation to his skill. It will transport you into another dimension right from the get-go. I’m definitely looking forward to a live set.

ZHU | Buy THE NIGHTDAY.

After he announced his role in ‘Moves like Ms. Jackson’, ZHU’s name came dripping off everyone’s tongue. ZHU chooses to stay covered by the shroud of his sound; the whole faceless aspect just adds to the deep, dark, and crunchy tech beat and high-pitched vocals. His EP THE NIGHTDAY. just came out and its a superb production of R&B influenced ghetto/deep house for sultry scenes in dark rooms the world over.

Our senses are sated for the time-being. But rest assured, ZHU and his mysterious ‘Generation Why’ movement will be staying in our limelight.

CoachellAltDelight brings attention to special artists that will be featured in Indio come April.
Some we love. Some we just discovered. All essential.

1/8 Days

Let’s not go forgetting that it is The Do LaB’s 10-year anniversary. And they’re definitely bringing the heat both weekends. Among the smattering of class acts at the fest-within-a-fest upon the Polo Fields are Foamo and Rack’N’Ruin as UK powerhouse duo Gorgon City. They play Saturday. Weekend 2 goers, be sure to check out the French Express instead.

With backgrounds in pretty much every electronic genre, Gorgon City makes sweet music that is 1-part Disclosure, 1-part Rudimental, and all-parts uniquely Matt & Kye. Think: deep garage house with addicting bass lines and entrancing vocals. Don’t forget to catch Disclosure’s and Rudimental’s sets over the weekend too!
