Finnish producer Tontario caught the world by surprise with his version of the highly remixed ‘A World Alone’ by Lorde. The simplicity turned it into easy-pickin’ mellow mood setter. Between then and now, he’s been busy with similar summery vibes. His more recent tracks see him venturing into more energetic and experimental realms.

Case in point: his remixes of SOHN‘s ‘Bloodflows’ and MNEK‘s ‘The Rhythm’.

Our buddies at L’Affaire Musicale have been busy since their last show. They’ve since partnered up with Beautiful Buzzz in SF for a little west coast lovin’. And there’s nothing we love more than funk-fused disco house. With that in mind, the gang lined up Solidisco, Ghost Beach, and Rogue Vogue to spur some good spirits.

Solidisco’s Duck Sauce-y Ready Look Choose Free-P tells us that the bounce house throne is in their sights. Ghost Beach has been on the tropical-pop tour circuit since BLONDE; it’ll be cool to hear what’s been influencing their future. Chicago House always helps set the mood. Rogue Vogue‘s twist on it just adds to the flavour.

RSVP for Free or Support the Scene. Either-or, we’ll see you on the dancefloor.

As is customary for year’s end, we must reflect back on our experiences. The way everything came together for us this year in regards to music – album releases, shows, festival appearances, CAD4.0! – definitely makes it one of the best years we’ve had. We’ve put together a top 20 list to recognize our very much opinionated favourite releases of 2014. These twenty albums influenced us in some way or other throughout the year by making us dance, think (or not think), and enjoy life; and they deserve a shout out for that. Onward to bigger and better in 2015!

For the better part of 2014, Hanami’s Winter Warmers #1 mix was my go-to pre-sleep set. He’s got a clear knack for inducing a state of calm. Earlier this month, he finally released #2 and the flow is impeccable. I’m caught up so deep in the feeling.

Back in June, Slaptop released his first original track, ‘Sunrise’. Ever since that day, he’s been turning heads all over the circuit thanks to his summery yet deep funk-house. The rise of Slaptop was definitely timed perfectly, but his hard work since then is what has earned him a spot at Snowglobe 2014.

With several remixes and a couple of originals to his name, Slaptop has proven he’s got a unique sound that’s bound to get you warmed up as the sun sets on Sierra (NYE | Wednesday @ 5:15pm). Come get loose with us.
