We here at Control+Alt+Delight generally have no interest in the personal drama or affairs of the artists we follow, however; in this case, Joel’s breakup with Kat Von D has led to some incredible new music. The man is pumping out new tunes faster than a tune-pumping machine.. and not just willy-nilly half-assed previews like we’re used to, but full-length quality tracks.
Based in Canada, this trio consisting of, Ian “DJ NDN” Campeau, Dan “DJ Shub” General and Bear Witness describe their music as “powwow-step.” Together they call themselves ‘A Tribe Called Red’ and they create an eclectic sound. Somehow, they melt a wide variety of musical styles ranging from hip-hop, electronic, to African Tribal.

It definitely seems like more than three years since the Odd Future (Wolf Gang Kill Them All) collective stormed, or better yet triumphed, the scene. Now after what seems like eons of waiting, Earl Sweatshirt released his debut LP Doris. Earl’s first EP EARL received rave reviews and spread like wildfire throughout the blogosphere. By the time everyone had begun asking about this 16 year old master wordsmith, he seemed to have fallen off the face of the earth. Check after the jump for more.

Now after what seems like eons of waiting, Earl Sweatshirt released his debut LP Doris. Earl’s first EP EARL received rave reviews and spread like wildfire throughout the blogosphere. It features two amazing vocalists [Kele Okereke and MNDR] and is a disco-pop hit ripe with RAC’s trademark happy melodies. Just as with Hollywood, there are lyrically wistful undertones that add a uniquely human touch.
The trio has also started out on a live tour. We’re hoping they bring out the extended family that they’ve remixed along their journey. That’d make for such an awesome show. Anyway, the single is out tomorrow. Stream it below.

Music festivals have found themselves in a surge previously thought unimaginable. What was once “one rave here” or “one Coachella there” has turned into “Festival Season” and “Festival Season Leading to Festival Season.” There are relatively countless events to attend of all shapes and sizes. Now that people are succumbing to what truly makes a festival special, experiences are more easily shaped towards the fan’s wants and needs. There is now a fourth dimension: vibes. This is coming from someone who has been to almost every West Coast festival on multiple occasions for the past half decade; Lightning In A Bottle is of another realm.
