Hello hello hello! Really happy that summer tracks are on steady flow and the southern California weather has been following. Concert and festival season is right around the corner! I can’t wait to have more time to get back on the ball with interviews and show reviews. I love doing that stuff. Speaking of shows…I’ve been waiting for tonight for too long. The Twelves are coming to LA tonight for an intimate showcase at Drai’s in Hollywood, and it’s completely sold out! Right before they come to LA, they’ll be finishing their set up at I Love This City in San Diego. Sounds stressful. +Jangbar and PHILM will be there shooting and covering that event. I wish I could clone myself and go to both..Til I figure that out, enjoy #97.

It’s about time the homies over at NO BODY got a more well deserved feature on C+A+D. Ruben and Kevin have been grinding hard in efforts of creating their own unique sound, and at this point it’s safe to say they’ve found it! For over a year now, they have consistently released tracks on their SoundCloud, and most of the time it’s a free download. They caught their big break after getting a mainstage opportunity at LED’s Anniversary Party (w/ Knife Party, Bingo Players, Kill the Noise and more). Ever since, the stars have just been aligning in their favor. The dudes just made it that much more real to me that hard work and focus is guaranteed to pay off. Check out some of their tracks and more after the jump!

Good evening fellow music seekers. Had another all around good week, especially in regards to the new music I picked up. I just gotta say how happy I am that Deadmau5 put out another super epic track and it’s better than anything I could ask for…IMO! Also FINALLY got to see Knife Party last night (and Kill the Noise Post-KillKillKill EP). They both were SO FUN! It was a hard show to be relatively sober for, because everyone from beginning to end played high energy sets that got the crowd very involved in. The security guards couldn’t handle us. G’damn. I love that shit. But at the end I was so dead and sweaty I made the guy from Bedazzled look dry. Here’s a video of a new song Knife Party made just for LA >:] Enjoy #83!

A little bass never hurt anybody…

Fat remix from Santa Barbara duo Candyland, turning Bingo Player’s insanely catchy “Rattle” into a dubstep-to-moombahcore jam. I think one tempo would’ve been solid but it still sounds good. That’s how a remix is done. It’s entered in a remix contest on Beatport, vote for it here

Skream just released his remix to Rusko’s bangariffic ‘Somebody to Love.’ Takes out that drop and picks up the pace a little bit. Not too filthy. Whatever the hell he starts doing with those synths about halfway through is awesome.

Rusko – Somebody to Love (Skream Remix)
Skream – Midnight Request Line

New Knife Party!

Labrinth – Last Time (Knife Party Remix)

501 just released this track featuring Belle Humble, who’s been featured on Flux Pavilion’s “Cracks.” They’ve got a nice range in the bass sound, definitely worth your time going through their soundcloud.

501 – HeadRush ft. Belle Humble

Another dope release from Bassex. Whenever he gets around to dropping an EP big things are gonna follow. Don’t want no negative people around me.

Catch him opening for Gemini and KOAN Sound @ The Galaxy Theater 4/2. (Tickets)

Brains – Positive People ft. TenorFly (Bassex Remix)

“people tell me motivation doesn’t last. well neither does bathing, which is why i recommend both daily”

Mau5trap’s shining star Jon Gooch (the 17 year old me has been withholding immature jokes on the inside) aka Feed Me just released his third official project, the Escape from Electric Mountain EP. The two tracks that leaked in the past week helped build an already high level of excitement, like receiving dirty texts the night before reuniting with a long distance girlfriend. The little guy shows off some range with the six songs, proving that it’s tough to confine artists to any one genre anymore.

“Trapdoor” combines some alt-rock vocals courtesy of Hadouken with a dubstep drop. “One Click Headshot” packs as much energy and bass as you can fit into 4:47 with the moombah/jump-up epidemic that Skrillex & Knife Party have spread. (That sample comes from here). “Whiskers,” a track co-produced with Gemini is a full fledged banger. “Relocation” threw me off guard in the best way possible — a progressive, softer electronic song with pleasant melodies and a thick distorted bassline. I sense some mau5 influence. And if you’ve dug his previous incorporation of powerful vocals, he brings along a mysterious and talented ‘Lindsay’ on “Embers,” a more traditional electro house track. His precision in production is apparent – every effect (and there’s a lot) is so crisp and the bass never fails to hits home.

Grab the EP on Beatport and if you don’t have the $15 hit me on Twitter and I’ll try to point you in the right direction. This bad boy’s my favorite release thus far in 2012. If I ever make it to electric mountain, I’m never leavin’.

“suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret”
cheers

As if BBC wasn’t already doing enough showcasing the very best in the EDM scene, Pete Tong is taking it to the next level by streaming live sets. When I first saw that Porter Robinson was dropping an Essential mix live last night, I almost dropped my cup noodles. The entire hour I was on my feet because the pace never slowed. Banger after banger, unreleased material was flying around like seagulls at the beach. Incorporating over thirty tracks, Porter truly showed the world he’s a master behind the decks.

The quality isn’t flawless, but it’s pretty damn good for a live recording

Happy days! Lots of shows and events coming up. GA floor tickets to Knife Party sold out within 20 minutes and completely sold out today. SUCKS! I missed floor tickets by 1 minute. Still got balcony tickets because shows at the Wiltern are life changing. Especially ones like this. So many shows at risk of selling out. Crazy stuff. But yeah, saw Oliver this Thursday at Dance Right. Awesome. Love that club. Dillon Francis even came to hang that night, and then we saw him at the Observatory last night. Although he kept crying about people starting mosh pits, it still was a crazy ass, high energy show. Never get tired of his sets. Pictures to follow! Enjoy #79.
