So Memorial Day Weekend is just about close enough that I can taste it, and there’s borderline too many events going on to choose from. If you’re like me and don’t have the disposable income to make a trip to Vegas, I highly recommend you consider going to one of the following showcases. It’s a pretty sweet selection considering how completely different each one of these shows are. So for this weekend you can get and be a part of the exact vibes you’re seeking! When I first heard that these two were working on a song together, I was blown away. The legendary A-Trak teaming up with one of my favorite rising DJs…..it just amazes me how you can come out of relatively nowhere like Dillon Francis has done, and be making music with one of the defining forces of the scene within a couple years.

As for the track, wow. Just wow. It’s undoubtedly going to be one of my most played tracks of the summer. Take Dillon’s lighthearted and feel-good synths, throw in A-Trak’s bounciness with his unparalleled mixing experience, and voilà! Make dat money.

The other day I was cleaning up my house from the storm of destruction that came through before the free Treasure Fingers show, and I decided to challenge myself. What initially prompted the challenge was when I saw this comic online. The challenge was to see if I could listen to the first ten songs without wanting to skip. Well my people, as it turns out, I had no desire to skip and have shamelessly included all ten songs for you to listen to below. I love them all! Plus, I’m just happy to have a junk-free-iPod…as far as these ten songs are concerned anyway. Enjoy #96 y’all.

After a comeback tour of epic proportions, The Hives are cocked, locked and loaded with the release of their fifth studio album this June! The Swedes have been at it since the early 90s, and haven’t shown signs of tapping out anytime soon. Especially considering how they rocked Coachella after a 10 year hiatus of the festival. Showing the crowd that their mainstage allotment was wholeheartedly earned.

While they battled the fine line between confidence and cockiness, their performance added up to be one of the best of the weekend. Utter and sheer rawness from the get go. Don’t believe me? Watch the video below of their single “Go Right Ahead.” You won’t get sh*t like this at ULTRA or EDC. Just more evidence that The Hives are here to stay, and that rock and roll is alive and well! Hello hello again, friends. Last week was a fairly slow one for new music. SO I stocked this week’s list up with some random, timeless gems I picked up while shuffling through my library. If you have them, GOOD! If not, try something new. There’s something great about finding out you like a new genre. It’s kinda like you’ve opened a portal to a far away land of mysteries, except you can explore it from the comforts of your computer chair. Regardless, I hope these expand your musical inclinations. So I just got home and was about to way to make my way over to SoundLogik’s DISCO MASSIVE, then suddenly a wild The Twelves mix appears! It uses funk and deep house. It is very effective!

Don’t know where it’s from. Or why they put it out. Or anything really. They’ve been leaving us with all these questions lately. Whatever! It’s nice to hear something from them. Debatably my favorite producers, and undeniably my favorite dance music performers. They’ll be at I Love This City SD and Drai’s Hollywood on Memorial Day Weekend. Yes, I’ll be at both.

Good day people! Been on slight withdrawal from the lack of shows that have been presenting themselves as of late. Looking more forward for what’s in the future…the very near future to be exact! First off, I’m most excited that THE TWELVES are coming back to California after a one year hiatus. One can only hope to hear the fruits of their time off from touring at their live show. Get your tickets before it’s too late! It breaks my heart that Circus Records and Bassrush are having a show that same night! Flux, Dr. P, Brown & Gammon (below), Funtcase, Cookie Monsta….ugh. That’s going to be a hell of a high energy show. Tickets for that here.
