Having been raised on the likes of musical greats The Talking Heads and New Order, Benoit and Sergio have uniquely and effectively melded subtle foot tapping techno-house rhythms with downtrodden – but oddly content – narratives sung listlessly by Myers. Their off-put blend of musical style gives them a distinguishable face in the growing crowd of musicians coming out of Europe.

HVOB

Her Voice Over Boys (HVOB) is Anna Müller and Paul Wallner from Austria. They started a deep house project in 2012 and are already making their presence known in the European scene with appearances at UAF and Melt!. For 2013, they’re slated for Lighthouse and a return to UAF among many other shows.

When we heard their debut album (which you can buy here), we immediately fell in love with the amazingly gentle vibes. Their music is unavoidable if your demeanor is demanding time to chill out. The resonant bass, hypnotic melodies, and lullaby-like vocals will surely set the mood for meditation.

Throw on some headphones, close your eyes, and drift off into grey matter. No worries, you visual types have not been left out. HVOB has taken up arms with the VDJ team at Lichterloh to present you with sublime images to go along with their beautiful music.

Brainchild of Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell (of Greco-Roman Soundsystem), The 2 Bears are two chaps from London with deeply established roots in the UK music scene. Their influence across the pond is definitely noticeable in the type of sounds that have been coming out of Europe lately. Their debut album Be Strong showcases their music as a curious mixture of house, funk, disco, dance, and soul.

They play Saturday. We suggest stopping by their set if you’re chasing that feel good vibe. You won’t be disappointed. Then pay (the very busy) Joe Goddard another visit, we assume later on in the day, for Coachella regulars Hot Chip and see what he can do when he’s got a live band behind his voice.

It’s tough to put into words the feeling of getting new music from someone you appreciate so much. Let alone when it comes out of nowhere AND it’s free. Our favorite French house producer surprised us a couple days ago with a remix pack he dubbed Modernized. “A new take on some of House Music’s most classic tracks,” says Louis. So fresh. SO clean. I don’t usually buy music, but when I do I prefer to support true underground talent. 21 year old Louis La Roche (AKA Brette Ewels) is nothing new around these parts, and today he surprised me with a ‘single’ that’s two singles? I must be missing something here, but I’m all for it! He collabs with UK rapper Ad-Apt on the title track Untrue. Ad-Apt’s flow works so well on Louis’ tracks, as they’ve collabed before on Missing You (below). Louis also showcases talent beyond his production ability for the first time by singing the chorus! Gotta give the kid some props. Touch Wood takes an instrumental approach influenced by 80s synth pop without using any samples. Can’t get enough of the grooooove.

If you didn’t believe that dreams really do come true, now’s a good time to start. Out of nowhere and while I’m still digesting the immaculate Dirty Talk EP, OLIVER drops this new remix of the relatively overplayed Childish Gambino song “Heartbeat.” And in two shakes of a lambs tail, I turn the corner and Treasure Fingers delivers his OG rendition of the track! At the moment, I’m favoring OLIVER’s take. It slaps a bit harder and has some pretty epic synths. Treasure Fingers takes the Funk Award, though, and this should be no surprise. Hear for yourself:

The thought of how much is going on in the next week and how much work I have to do is overwhelming…almost to the point of wanting to do nothing. You know that feeling? Naturally I’ve dove into several mixes to try and get me through it. One that’s coming out next week, one that I probably won’t say unless you ask, and another one I’m about to share. I’ve always trusted Treasure Fingers mixes, which makes me wonder way I waited so long to listen to his EU Tour Nov 2011 Mix? To be honest I don’t think this could have came at a better time. If you’ve been keeping up with our disco house posts as of late, this is going to be a treat. The first five seconds sets the tone for the entire ride, and it just gets better. I’m jealous as f*ck +Jangbar got to meet the mastermind and score this interview for us.
