Alright I’ve been lagging on doing this, but it’s pretty much festival season and I’m sure everyone would want to know where they’re going sooner than later. I’m just as excited for IDentity Fest as anything! I was about to pay the full $60 just so I could see Kaskade and Pretty Lights before they had the $20 sale. I’m bummed they didn’t have one of the dates in Irvine like they originally planned, but I have a good feeling about Chula Vista’s. We have a few tickets up for grabs and if you don’t want to pay the full price of the show, here’s how you can win one:

ROUND 2 RULES

1) Go and “Like” our facebook and shoot us a follow on twitter.
You can do both on the right side of this page
2) This week’s topic! Name that caption! Come up with your best caption for this picture and @Tag your friends
3) The comment with the most “Likes” by the end of each week gets a ticket

Week 1 Winner!!

Miguel Haro

Pretty simple right? I’ll be announcing each winner on the upcoming Sunday YOLO lists before the event. Each week will have a different topic to comment on, so keep your eyes peeled on Facebook and Twitter! The more people you tag the more likes you’ll get on your comment, so don’t let up and GOOD LUUUUUCKKKK! Let’s party on the 2nd.

Thanks phone cameras..

HARD usually likes to wait for one of their preceding concerts before they release future lineups, but I guess the excitement kept Destructo from waiting until HARD Summer. Audiotistic was last night and the floors were showered with flyers for the 4th annual HARD Haunted Mansion!!! Holy sh*t f*ck mother of god they’ve done it again. SOULWAX AND 2MANYDJS MAKE THEIR RETURN TO LA! I can’t let up on these guys. They consistently put together some of the top performances I’ve ever beared witness. This year is stacked with another all star lineup that HARD never leaves us without.

Of these artists, I’m excited to see: Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, GOOSE, Skream & Benga, Fatboy Slim, and Tiga. As always I can never get tired of Fake Blood, Laidback Luke, Rusko, Skrillex, and 12th Planet. All in their respected order. It’s going to be another hell of a Halloween. Here we go for round 4!

A-Trak @ Voyeur (Photo: Mackenzie Bradley)

Woke up early Sunday morning to get ready for an adventure I didn’t know I was going to take. I found out about this show when Laidback Luke came to play back to back sets in May. Once at Voyeur and then straight to 4th&B to close out the night. L.E.D. events have a thing for two-a-days, and Fool’s Golds’ A-Trak and Treasure Fingers flew together for this one. I had one goal on Sunday and that was get to San Diego to see two hour sets from the best house DJs I know. My friends were dropping like flies, but Chronic Mncher wised up to the occasion and we made the drive. A-Trak and Treasure fingers were playing at Wave House and then rushing to Voyeur to do San Diego right.

Treasure Fingers was set to go on promptly from 5-7 and A-Trak was to follow from 7-9. Wave House has to be the coolest venue I’ve ever been to. Literally right on Mission Beach, packed with the most beautiful people from wall to wall. Right when you walk in you come up on their massive artificial wave. $40 an hour to ride or free to watch, so I just chilled and jammed to the bumping house until TF came on. We were graced with a straight two hour lounge set filled with the most consistent funk you can get. I will never get tired of it! He filled his set with his remixes of Innerpartysystem’s “It’s Not Getting Any Better” and Classixx “I’ll Get You.” Hey come and tell me do you like bass do ya do ya like bass. And he didn’t let up on his originals from the Lift Me EP. Fully funk-tional set that made the whole trip worth it in that very two hours.

TF set the tone but it was party time when A-Trak manned the decks, and everyone knew it. He never ceases to amaze and you can tell how much fun he’s having every time he spins a fresh set. You can’t fake that stuff. A-Trak played through what seemed to be a perfect Sunday sunset in San Diego and then disappeared to a roaring applause from the satisfied crowd. I had to make moves to catch the boys at Voyeur, so I jumped in the freezing beach showers, club attired myself, and snagged a ride downtown. I was so happy to see that both A-Trak and TF played different and equally amazing sets at both events. It proved that much more to me just how legit they are. A-Trak pumped out banger after banger. “Ray Ban Vision,” throwback tracks like his remix of “Oh!” and of course the Duck Sauce favs “aNYway,” “Barbra Streissand,” and “Big Bad Wolf,” which actually turns out to be much better as a live track than through headphones. Ahwoooooooowoowoowoo. Seeing A-Trak DJ from upstairs where I could see every knob turn, switch flip, record scratch, and beat match put him on a whole new level. He truly is the OGDJ, and I have yet to see his skills topped.

All in all, absolutely awesome day. I love going down to San Diego, because the scene seems to be so much more pure there. EVERYONE was dancing to the point of overwhelming heat and sweatiness, but no one seemed to care. Chants, dance circles, dirty dancing, pounding house music all added to make those two events some of the most fun parties I’ve been to. I’ve seen them both countless times, and I don’t plan on letting up anytime soon. I only wish I had my FlipCam with me to document, but you’re just going to have to see them for yourself next time they come around. I’ll definitely be there when they do, so let’s get down!

The SoCal debut of the “A” at Coachella topped with A-Trak’s relentless
beat juggling abilities. How can someone be so tight, yet hang so loose?

Back again for your (ir)regular but as always juicy slice of grooves and beats. This week sees a harder dose, spurred by Blatta+Inesha’s recent visit to Motiv in Santa Cruz. I was ready, but I wasn’t prepared for what they had in store, a set filled with hard-driving electro from across the pond, flawlessly mixed, with enough energy to carry an hour and a half set. Keep an eye out for these guys on their soundcloud and facebook, their new track “Senegal” gets released on Dim Mak Records in a few weeks!

Here’s probably my favorite track of theirs, which just came out in March on Crux Records. The Modek remix was indeed a fantastic outing, but I personally love where this song goes in the first 3:20, a killer sub-bass, eerie vocals, and a killer drop. Ladies and gentlemen, this here’s a classic.
Blatta+Inesha – My Lady Don’t Mind

This new remix by German group D.I.M. is one of the more perfect songs I’ve heard in the past few weeks, these guys in my eyes, can do no wrong.
Fiora – Rediscovery (D.I.M Remix)

Next up is Lucky Date’s newest remix of Frankmusik’s “Do It in the A.M.”. He released his previous effort with Eli Smith a few weeks ago(one of my favorite tracks recently), this is a slowed down, more laid-back approach. Still got Lucky Date allllll over it, this has a got a really clean percs to open up, with a super funky bassline underneath. A cool throwback to simpler times, and a great track for the end of summer.
Frankmusik – Do It In The AM ft. Far East Movement (Lucky Date’s ’06 Remix)

Next up we got a MASSIVE dubstep track from Sex Cult Records‘ Alvin Risk. This guy doesn’t know how to slow down, churning out insane dubstep tracks, and some of my favorite moombahton originals this year alone, and this one’s no let down. Has an overall dark theme, which I think the american dub scene has lacked recently, and this guy is going nowhere. Go check his soundcloud, then peep some of the junior Sex Cult crew, big sounds coming from guys you’ll hear more of.
Example – Stay Awake (Alvin Risk Remix)

Monstrous, dark, gritty electro from Skitsnygg.
Haunting, superb electro/dance tracks from yourdirtyhabit.

Last this week we got a heavy electro remix from the 19-year-old up-and-comer DallasK, with his huge remix of Nero’s Guilt. Honestly after some of their previous releases, Guilt could never hold its own for me, but this track has completely brought it back to life. His “Front/Back” track has been tearing up Beatport and moved this kid to “Serious” status I’d say pretty damn quick. eyes peeled on this kid.
Guilt – Nero(DallasK remix)

As always, wear good headphones, and buy the music!

Right now it seems like a ton of my favorite producers are gearing up for some serious business. Felix Cartal has promised to stop making remixes for his upcoming EP, Dillon Francis is working on his, and Alex Gopher just put out a monster of an EP called “Invasion”, featuring remixes by Mumbai Science, Sovnger, Etienne de Crecy and….just buy it here.

Good stuff this week, recapping some early summer releases along with some fresh new tracks to keep those sunny vibes flowin’ and them feet movin’. We’ve got a big one to start us off…..

Gregori Klosman has been a huge favorite of mine the past 6 months or so. Everything he does seems to be presented in a nicely layered manner, with a little but of imbalance and outright nastiness. I LOVE hard-electro that goes places within the track, and Gregori nails it with his new banger, Low Battery. Get to 2:30 and hold on.
Low Battery – Gregori Klosman

Style of Eye has kept things quite real as of late, their “Save the World” remix for Swedish House Mafia saved the track for the harder crowd, and the Wet/Dry EP is one of the best this year. Nothing over the top, but a gorgeous production value (esp. in the percussion)with some quality remixes. The Zombie Disco Squad remix of “Dry” is stellar, but for summer, nothing beats steel drums and stomping bass!
Style of Eye – Wet

Love, love, love, this track. Funky, snappy, groovy. Claude has been a fav. producer of mine for a bit, but each time I hear this remix I’m simply blown away. The percussion is awesome, keeps the song simply moving forward, the bass is what’ll knock you on your ass. This one’s a jewel, staying in my library for awhile.
Girl Unit – Wut (Claude Vonstroke “Undressed” Remix)

This is a pretty loud remix of the 8th Grade slow dance jam, California King Bed by Rihanna. Not usually into this kinda stuff for my personal listening, but I’ll be among the first to admit that the girl’s got a set of pipes. Sped up a bit mixed with a signature Bassjackers club sound, and you got a pretty damn catchy tune. I like the off-timing they use with the synth, they avoid completely sounding like 800 other house songs. Makes live crowds nuts.
California King Bed (Bassjackers Club Mix)

Next up we got a pair of remixes of the INNERPARTYSYSTEM hit “Not Getting Any Better”. A big room version from L.A.’s own No Body and a straight danceable remix from S.F.’s funk-masters, Realboy. In terms of my own style and tastes, the Realboy mix kills it for me, the production is top-notch, and when the song drops at 1:15, the funktastically heavy bass is too much to ignore. No Body’s mix exhibits their prowess for the big room sound, and with a group that has successfully nailed multiple genres(Moombah, Electro-House, B.R. etc.) this is just another notch on their belt. Both make good use of the vocals in the song, which is why I play both in live sets. Keep an eye out for both these groups this year. Don’t say I didn’t tell ya.

Not Getting Any Better – INNERPARTYSYSTEM (No Body Remix)

Not Getting Any Better – INNERPARTYSYSTEM (Realboy Remix)

Lastly, one of my all time favorites Clockwork is finally releasing his Breaker EP on August 1st on Wearhouse Records. “Breaker” has been a personal favorite of mine since he dropped his exclusive mix over at Gotta Dance Dirty (which, if you dont have it, go here before anything else and cop it). Weighing in at four tracks hefty tracks, what’s offered is a heaping pile of big room house complete with no b.s. percussion, sublime synths, and a groovy undertone that seems to stem from his deep passion for hip-hop. This stuff is gold, can’t wait to see where the future takes this guy.
Clockwork – Breaker EP Minimix

Keep an eye out for some Monthly mix installments I’ll be doing here at C+A+D, still figuring out my approach, but expect one sooner than soon.

I was trying to do homework until I “accidentally” went on Facebook and saw this song posted. I love when accidents prove to be good things, because I’m blasting this at levels right now. Calvin Harris‘s new single “Feel So Close” is coming out with an all star lineup of remixes by the likes of Benny Benassi, Dillon Francis and Nero. The others have some pretty damn big shoes to fill, because the bar has been set. Nero proves once again their dominance in the realm of melodic dubstep that maintains its hard hitting status. This song does all the right things. A build up and drop to get lost in, filled with slamming bass on top of Calvin Harris’s oh so desirable vocals. The combination couldn’t have come together more beautifully. A masterpiece in its own right. I’m losing my patience waiting for these remixes to drop on Aug 21 (Preorder here).

YO! As if that new Duck Sauce wasn’t enough to make the day great, our newest writer also makes his debut on team C+A+D. This kid’s a searcher so fasten your fuckin’ seatbelts and get ready to be launched into the depths of the freshest electro bangers to call the internet home.

Hello! Mr. Vos here super stoked to get to share some great music with interested minds! I’m really big into moombah now, some ambient more-laid back stuff, and of course tasty tasty electro jams. I DJ weekly at a nightclub in Santa Cruz, CA under the name Mr. Vos, and you’ll be able to find me on facebook and Soundcloud with some sets I’ve done.

End shameless self-promotion.

I’ve been in LOVE with this track since I first heard it in the Hard mix a few weeks back. That signature Dillon Francis. bounciness, without the slow dragging feel that so many Moombahton edits and tracks have right now. Perfect for summer. This is the ORIGINAL Dillon track.

Been eagerly awaiting more BeatauCue, his stuff always seems to be top notch in production and creativity. He teamed up with the bubbly Shinichi Osawa on this one, and the result is surprising-a hard driving heavy electro-house tune. This is one kids will get sweaty to.
BeatauCue – H.O.W.L (feat. Shinichi Osawa)

Finally, we have a new(er) remix of a decent Johnny Love tune, brought to you by the fine Canadians known as Torro Torro. What you get is a a big tribal drum wrapped around KILLER vocals and a blaring synth. Watch these guys, they’ll be huge by next summer.
Johnny Love- The Switch (Torro Torro Remix)

To wrap up my first post here on Ctrl+Alt+Delight, here’s a teaser video from one of my favorites, Gesaffelstein. Can’t wait to catch him in L.A. for HARD Summer with the rest of the team. That’s going to be huge.
