LIZ | Soundcloud

So LIZ dropped her debut EP Just Like You through Diplo’s Mad Decent label last week. The Y2K stylized R&B bubblegum princess gives us 7 free songs on the EP – 5 of which had not been previously released. With production duties being handled by artists like Mr. Carmack, Djemba Djemba, Colta, and Lido, among others, the EP tackles a slew of different genres including UK Garage, Baltimore Club, and Pop; yet, most importantly centers itself around a chill R&B vibe. I’m a sucker for female vocals and LIZ delivers.

Being compared to The Beatles is no easy feat. The boys of Temples have, however, absolutely earned the distinction. As soon as ‘Shelter Song’ made its way to the airwaves, the music world knew an iconic Psychedelic-Pop band of our age was born. Since then, every release they’ve put out has received coverage from nearly every taste maker in the game. Their album Sun Structures is definitely among our favourite trips of the year thus far. We’ll be looking forward to the tapestry of colour across the heavens in whats looking to be the perfect Saturday sunset set.

After Shlohmo remixed Jeremih’s “Fuck U All the Time” to great acclaim, the two got in the studio. That session spawned the collab “Bo Peep (Do U Right)” which played to each artist’s strengths and proved this was a formidable sonic duo. Shlohmo and Jeremih have plans on releasing collab EP No More in March. By the time April rolls around we’ll be all too ready to catch the Wedidit co-head dropping his signature sexy bass heavy tunes. Shlohmo is playing Friday, we’ll see you there!

Having missed Parov Stelar last year due to illness, we’ve yet to quench our electro-swing thirst. This year Goldenvoice decided to remedy the misfortune by inviting Caravan Palace to the desert oasis. As the genre suggests, they put a modern twist on the happy-go-lucky dance of the Roaring Twenties. Keep your eyes off the clock. Forget the green light’s beckon. Dig up your suspenders, derby hats, cloches, and flapper skirts; let’s have ourselves a rowdy ragtime on Friday.

Curtis Jones (aka Green Velvet, aka Cajmere) will be donning his Cajmere moniker to ‘jack’ up Yuma on Saturday. His album Too Underground for the Mainstage kicked up a storm in the Chicago and Tech House scene in 2013. His classic: ‘Coffee Pot (It’s Time for the Percolator)’ – and remix by Jamie Jones – caught our ear in quite a few sets over the year, and for good reason. Catch us in the pit.

Young Aussie producer Wave Racer is back at it with his new single Streamers. He came splashing onto the scene last year with his Rock U Tonight EP and shimmering remix of Panama’s hit track, “Always”. All of these releases have been on the prestigious Australian Label Future Classic. On Streamers, Wave Racer expands on his own take on funky glitchy Australian dance music that we love.
