Giraffage

Giraffage’s dreamy take on trap and dance music has quickly become one of my biggest inspirations in production. It’s fun. It’s bouncy. It’s catchy. And it’s a staple sound from this rising star. What better that he took the epic classic that is Alice Deejay’s Better Off Alone? So many feels.

Yuksek

After starting his only label called PARTYFINE, Yuksek continues to make his mark in the progression of indie music. The live unmistakeable live instruments pick this song up in a way no synthetic productions ever could. He’s on a roll, people.

Chromeo

Chromeo is back. What more do I need to say? Really? Their upcoming album aptly named White Women is one of my most anticipated of the year. With how music has evolved since their last release, it’s safe to say this LP will stand as a major influence on the disco future. Get ready for epic collaborations with Toro Y Moi, Solange, Ezra Koenig, Pat Mahoney from LCD, and OLIVER!

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is riding the chill wave home with this FREE EP in prepartion for their followup album Elevate. I’m excited to see how they mature on this release. I see big things in their future. Download the EP for FREE right here.

Odesza | Soundcloud

As chillwave continues to grow into broader horizons, Odesza explores their own flavor of angelic melodies and thunderous basslines. By utilizing their style on cut up vocal samples, the songs standout in a very uplifting way. The title track and intro on the EP My Friends Never Die quite literally swallows you whole with all these dudes have to offer. As the EP goes on, they sample the oh-so-familiar Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and bring life to that song in a way I thought would be impossible.

Arcade Fire

Canadian indie wonders Arcade Fire released their much anticipated single, Reflektor, recently along with two videos. One video was a more typical, YouTube type featuring band members in black and white, rocking massive paper mache masks. The second, more attention-grabbing video is internet based, using webcam technology to produce an interactive experience in which the viewer becomes the “reflektor.” The song itself is irresistible in a quintessentially Arcade Fire sort of way; they really don’t care what you think about them and that’s what has made them so popular. It’s danceable in the same way that “Sprawl ii” (my personal favorite from The Suburbs) is and integrates all of their best qualities. Check it out after the jump. A Boy and His Kite

One-man wonder Dave Wilton churns out lovely, delicate tracks under the moniker A Boy and His Kite. Wilton records his music in an old church called St. Ida’s in Colorado and there’s something about that that’s really captured in his music. It’s solitary and reflective, reverent yet honest in a way that makes you think that music really is his sanctuary. His self-titled debut was released late last year and isn’t something you want to miss out on. It’s lyrically powerful and equally beautiful instrumentally. He makes musical poetry. Henry Krinkle

Florida’s Henry Krinkle makes aural creations that are necessary for any future house and R&B feel-good session. His most recent remix of Cyril Hahn’s Perfect Form sparked us to share him. He takes the already amazing song and slows it down to a sultry slur, drops some heavy tropical bass on top, and loops the sensual chorus throughout. He turns it into a soundtrack for lush summer-nights that will be on repeat for a while.

Hot Natured | Buy Different Sides of the Sun

The quadruple threat that makes up Hot Natured just released their debut album Different Sides of the Sun. It’s an ambitious blend of modern pop and traditional house. That doesn’t come as a surprise when you consider the men behind the moniker. Each of them powerhouses in their own game; Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C, and Ali Love joined forces in 2010 with the intentions of bringing skilled electronic production to the poppier-dancehall masses.

Their 2012 track Benediction topped charts all over the UK and highlighted exactly what they had planned. A more recent single, Reverse Skydiving featured the vocals of the lovely Anabel Englund and set the style up for success in the States. Different Sides of the Sun is 15 tracks of simple and catchy soul with fiery passion. The standout tracks prove that this is a music style worth paying attention to.
