The founding fathers of moombahton are finally coming back to Southern California for an exclusive set at the Wayfarer this Friday. Honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. I still get bummed out from time to time that moombahton didn’t break through like I was hoping. Something about the energy brought to this slowed down, sensual BPM always has me grooving. Anyhow, let’s bounce on Friday! Win ticket below..

HOW TO ENTER

Standard procedure. The contest ends at 12PM Friday May 29th!
••••••••••••••••••••

••••••••••••••••••••

Do 1, 2, or all of the above. As always, the more entries –> the better your chance to win. Be sure to be ready to check your inbox/twitter, because we’ll be giving it to the first person who responds when the contest is over. See you guys there!

Nadastrom – Fat Boys

Negra Linda – Schlachthofbronx vs. Sabo vs. Nadastrom

I usually would stay away from remixes of an album as clean start to finish as Nero’s Welcome Reality, but “Must Be the Feeling” just got some remix treatment from UK’s Delta Heavy and it’s got me all giddy. There’s two things I love to do when listening to electronic music: bang my head and get down on the dance floor. Delta Heavy accomplishes both; Must Be the Feeling already had cemented itself as my favorite from the album by combining these two things so well with an 80s feel. Delta Heavy’s remix takes the original feel and turns it into a little moombahton, a little thrash — what’re the kids calling that shit now, moombahcore? — and a costco sized red bull of energy. Plus it’s Free.99. Their other tracks jump around genres and deserve to be in the library.

It’s no secret we fucks with Dillon Francis around here. He’s transformed a genre from moomboring to moombahdass, taking the low BPM’s and going wild with em. I fucking love people that blaze trails with unique styles and perspectives on music and he’s one of them. (Why make music if it’s gonna be the same shit and blend in with what everyone else is making?). Anywho, he’s well on his way to becoming a household name and here are previews of his two upcoming tracks, one the remix to Digitalism‘s ‘Circles’ and the other an Original Mix, ‘IDGAFOS.’ (I Don’t Give a Fuck or Shit). I personally like giving zero fucks (IG0F) but to each his own. Enjoy and stay tuned for more.

I’ve been infected! The moombahton bite is the most contagious, and it’s spreading faster than a fire in a field of Fergie vinyls. Dillon Francis should be a household name at this point, especially in the spect of this blog. As moombahton makes its way into the libraries of those eager for what’s next, Dillon sits comfortably at the throne. Setting the bar for anything and everything that is and will be moombah. His bass lines are rumbling. So easy to get up and bounce to. A nonstop combo of dutch house, snares and bass kicks with a Latin spice that leaves you refusing an antidote. He’s remixed the likes of Calvin Harris, CSS, Chase & Status, DJ Fresh and more. Supported by Diplo and is pretty much all Mad Decent has going for them right now (judging by their first compilation), so you know this guy is here to play.

The best part is this dudes consistency. He releases remixes and original pieces almost weekly. You’d bet with a heap of tracks, a few of them would seem rushed or incomplete, but nay! Dillon continues to surprise me. His talents extend past moombahton and begin with his dubstep origins, where he thought he found his niche. He has this keen ability to use his sounds so effectively with everything and doesn’t seem to repeat himself. I’ve never followed a DJ that puts out remixes and originals across genres at the level that he has. He has some serious talent that needs to be acknowledged AND a live show to match! I’ve seen him twice the past couple weeks, and I’m here to confirm that Dillon Francis throws down in all realms. Pick this ish up before the bro down the street has this bumping out of his portable Budweiser stereo system. The future of electronic music is here everyone!

Here are some of my favorite tracks from him. Most are songs that I’ve showed to people to try to get them into moombahton. Let me just say that I have a very high success rate haha Peep his soundcloud for the rest.

Moombah Goods

Timetakers – She Blows (Whistle Tune) (Dillon Francis Remix)
Dillon Francis – Masta Blasta
Dillon Francis – Que Que (Ft. Maluca)
Dillon Francis – Beautician 2.0
Toddla T – Take It Back (Dillon Francis Remix)

Dubstoop

Dillon Francis – Beautician

This EP was released for free because Dillon couldn’t get all the samples they used approved. He made it with Cory Enemy, his mentor and part of the reason Dillon is who he is. All.Fo.Free

Dillon Francis, the moombahton and dubstep producing machine, refuses to cut down the amount of banging electro tunes he puts out. More often than not they’re free, and this one is no different. If you haven’t boarded the Dillon Francis train yet, this would be a good place to start. Classic moombah beat with a melodic chorus that holds you at zero gravity before the bass hits. Don’t be conservative with your volume on this one.

@Witler’s theory on genre indecision prompted me to write about Moombahton. A rebellious new species, Moombahton (Moom-Buh-Tone) is an inventive genre that’s gaining popularity faster than a middle schooler with pizza lunchables.  Reggaeton fused with Dutch house, who would’ve guessed? The godfather of this eccentric newborn is none other than Dave Nada of Nadastrom. Nada inadvertently created the genre while spinning at his cousin’s high school basement party. The opening DJ’s dropped slow tempo’ed reggae beats, putting nada in a pickle. Dave Nada flopped his balls on the table and slowed his house tracks down to a sloth like 108 BPM; what a beautiful mistake it was. It’s hard to describe the feel but Nada illustrates it as, “weird reggaeton techno shit at mid-tempo that has lots of bass and perverted chopped and screwed vocals that make people from all over the world grind on each other and get preggarz and think wow this shit is really fun and sometimes it makes me wanna stage dive and fight and fuck and fight and fuck and makes me hungry for mofongo and plantains.” I for one, love it.

Dave Nada – Moombahton
Neroteric – Hey Got Lines
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll (A-Mac Moombahton Edit)
Soulja Boy – Pretty Boy Swag (Diplo & Munchi Moombahton Remix)
Billy The Gent – Sweet Moombahton Shop
Dada Life – White Noise Red Meat (No Body’s Moombahton Remix)

– Chronic Mncher
