Time flies. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since Busy P launched, what would be, the most iconic label of our generation. To celebrate a whole decade of success and quality, the boys are releasing an anniversary compilation. A two-track combo from Justice’s experimental rock album just hit the internet.
Newlands is straight 80’s rock. With what sounds like the Wildboyz intro, its clear the Frenchmen have strayed far from that filthy distortion that made their name.
Canon has a bit more of a groove. The cymbals emphasize some sort of climax, but I cant put my finger on it. I kind of like this one. Audio, Video, Disco, the French electronic duo’s 2nd studio album, drops October 25th under good ol’ Ed Banger Records.

More so as a worry of how they can make something that will ever compare to the level of Cross, but also just about how much I miss their sound. I’ve also been thinking about their past remixes and how much they put into making them perfect. There aren’t many out there, and a lot of the ones that are out are fake, but I can say with confidence that this remix is theirs. You can’t fake the signature funky bass lines that Justice is always on top of. Their choice to remix one of my favorite tracks of 2011 just makes it that much better. Thank you music gods for making this happen for us!

It’s funny because the closer the release date of Justice’s sophomore album gets, the more I think about them. More so as a worry of how they can make something that will ever compare to the level of Cross, but also just about how much I miss their sound. I’ve also been thinking about their past remixes and how much they put into making them perfect. There aren’t many out there, and a lot of the ones that are out are fake, but I can say with confidence that this remix is theirs. What’s better than a French DJ? 4 French DJs. Birdy Nam Nam is a remarkable ensemble of vinyl samplers. By exploiting their turntables, these guys scratch simultaneously to innovatively construct music. Well, they’ve stirred up quite an interest in the electronic scene. Their last album, ‘Manual For Successful Rioting’ (2009), was joint produced by Fellow Frenchmen Yuksek and Justice; respectable to say the least. Well the French quartet is at it again. Their brand new album, ‘Defiant Order’, is produced by (French) legend Para One and was just released this morning.
Make sure to catch them alongside Feadz (Ed Banger), DJ Cam and Chateu Marmont on October 1st at Ooh La La Festival; at the El Rey Theatre. Tickets are 25$ HERE

Not saying that I wouldn’t expect anything less than a great album, I’m just playing it safe. One thing we all gotta get straight is that † is one of the greatest electronic albums of all time. For a lot of us, it showed the light to how epic and approachable electronic could be. For others it was the influence they needed to start producing music of their own. So to expect an album as good or even better is like getting Daft Punk to tell us what the fuck they’re doing with their lives…aka it’s highly unlikely. But hey! Bright side is that the album should be coming out in the Fall, and there’s no doubt in my mind that we’re in for a treat.
