Steven Zhu‘s bringing some promising electro talent out of LA/San Francisco. He already showcases a genuinely polished and versatile sound in his Original Mixes at a fairly young age. You’ll see what I mean when you listen to the tracks below — he goes from gritty basslines and wobs in “Accusations” to a relaxed trance sound in “Making Amends.” It seems like he’s still working to find his general niche, but whatever he hones in on seems like it’ll be good. He’s got a knack for quality Progressive House in his remixes as well. I personally prefer the glitchy electro but I guess that’s my personal preference in general. I’d love to hear what he can do with some vocal samples thrown onto his original tracks as well as remixing some lesser known songs. For now, peep some of his work below and keep an eye out!

Finally my fellow ducks. Time to gather in the flying V to the disco hall, because we got another Duck Sauce edit to tease us until its release. If you’ve been with us at all the past year, this is the track I’ve been drooling over while everyone was suckin’ at the teet of the big bad wolf. Los Angeles based producers Bastille were lucky enough to slam some funk on this one with a lot of their own flare, as this isn’t much like what I remember of the original. It doesn’t pack as much of the punch that had me lost in dance mode at HARD Summer. I’ve been humming this tune since Coachella so I’ll definitely sit tight on this for now.

I was gone for a bit. Now I’m back. Cool story, I know. If you’re unfamiliar, I’m going to be the guy that keeps you updated on anything and everything EDM. I like to keep things clear-cut. If it’s good, I’ll praise it with chortle inducing metaphors. On the other hand, if it sucks it’ll get the merciless butt of my verbal assault rifle.
In the words of Mulan, let’s get down to business.
Wolfgang Gartner. A name so prodigious it requires its own sentence. His new track is Ménage à trois, French for a sexual liaison between 3 people. Need I say more? This track bangs harder than a screen door in a hurricane.

Wolfgang Gartner – Ménage à trois (Original Mix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

If you’ve been following the dub scene at all, you already know Borgore has been killin it. Well he’s got a record label now called Buygore and it’s got some interesting talent. One of ‘em is 24-year-old Tomba, a Dutchman with a knack for filthy, grimy dub.

(for fans of Flux Pavillion and/or J. Rabbit)

Fytch & Captain Crunch – Raindrops (Tomba Remix) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

BONUS:
Duffy – Well, Well, Well (Artistic Raw Bootleg) <-♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Sad to say that the past year has been lacking the amount of new Duck Sauce tracks and remixes that I’ve been craving. Happy to say that it is because they’re hard at work for a full length that’s supposed to come out this year! Remember how exciting it was when all the new tracks and edits came out last summer? I’ve got my fingers crossed for a repeat this year. The following track is done by Viceroy who hails from lovely San Fran. Pretty cool to see some quality French house coming out of the U.S., let alone California. Anyhow, this track is an absolute disco banger. All I had of it song was a super low quality Louis La Roche remix that sounded straight out of Duck Sauce’s EDC set. (I put that one in my Ultimate Summer House Mix Pt. 1 if you wanna go pick it up.) Thanks to Viceroy I’ll be blasting this in its full 320 goodness until the original comes out. Try not to sing along to this one.

I think it’s officially safe to say that house music is one of my favorite things to listen to. Not just house though. The bouncy disco house with just the right amount of soul and funk. Talkin 60s-70s vibes. I put together a list of tracks from DJs I feel most consistently match their songs up to these standards. Careful with this stuff though, if you like the first couple songs you’re going to want it all. In which case let me know! There’s a lot more where these came from, and every song is just as quality as the next. Once I realized how great it was to cruise the streets blaring relentlessly bass-filled house, I decided we should have a two part summer mix CD. Two parts mainly because I couldn’t fit everything I wanted onto one CD, but the more the merrier. The first half of this two part compilation is comin at you in the old school playlist style: all or nothing. Burn it, pop it in, put the top down and enjoy.

More feel good house for your bush. Bingo Players have delivered what seems to be one of the house anthems of the year. This track has deservingly been holding it’s own on BeatPort top 100, so you can feel comfortable expecting a lot. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing along to this one. What reminded me to post on this was hearing the song that they sampled on the radio! So cool to see what sparked the idea for such an awesome song. (Skip to 1:15 if you wanna get through the bullshit)
