Looking back on everything that came out last year made it that much more apparent that 2011 will solidify itself as one of the best years for music in the past decade. Electronic artists finally putting out full albums made this list an all around keeper. Takes me back to 2007 when Justice, Soulwax, Boys Noize and others set the bar for solid electronic albums. Here are the picks for best of 2011. Happy new year everyone!

EPs (extended play) were in steady flow this year. They’ve been more common for DJs trying to find their niche in different subgenres, but that didn’t keep indie/rock artists teasing us with little samplers before releasing an album. Given the success of these EPs, it’s safe to say we can expect bigger things from these cats in 2012:
It was another one of those morning struggles getting out of bed, when suddenly I found the energy through an email for a new Jack Beats track! These guys have been teasing us with word of an album all year, and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be out anytime soon. In the mean time, it looks as if they have a series of B-Sides for release that they’ve been playing in clubs during their HARD Summer tour. ‘Make the People,’ the first of the series, is everything you’d ever want from Jack Beats, except new and fresh! It’s a free download on their facebook, so please go ‘like’ it in support, but I included it below as well.
The last and certainly not least track of this post is a new one from the Estonian wonder kid Mord Fustang. This guy’s sound is like a cross between Deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner, which probably adds to why he isn’t as big as he should be. It’s a familiar sound that established artists are already working with, but it doesn’t take away from how astoundingly great this track is.

He also opened with this track when we saw him in OC last week! It was a pretty awesome sold out show, and everyone was ready to get sweaty in the pit considering our loss of patience. The DJ before Mord went on about half an hour too long, and he was fun and all but we wanted some Mord. You’ll see him yelling at the beginning of the video. The track starts towards the fifty second mark.

After coining the genre “Nu Jump Up” and defining what can be considered legitimate moombahton, Dillon Francis is back to his roots with this one. Quality dub coming straight off his Euro tour. I got a test in 4 hours, and I should be sleeping, but I couldn’t hold off on letting you guys get a taste of this. It’s crazy how established Dillon’s gotten in such a short amount of time and how clear the heights he can reach are. Last person I know that’s got this much all around love so quick is Skrillex, and Dillon’s following in his footsteps quicker than I expected. Can’t wait til this is released!

Thinking about how your whole life, all you accomplishments, your failures have been built up to that moment. Thinking about how everything could come to an end before you even have a chance to do anything about it. Scary contemplation…Anyway yeah, this song instantly made me think of that picture (above) I had saved. It’s not too farfetched once you listen. I can hear the guy at the hatch as they hit the sand: “KICK OUT THE EPIC MOTHER F*CKER!” And all hell breaks loose. Well today D-Day is Dada Day! The epic motherf*ckers have done it yet again.
