As chillwave continues to grow into broader horizons, Odesza explores their own flavor of angelic melodies and thunderous basslines. By utilizing their style on cut up vocal samples, the songs standout in a very uplifting way. The title track and intro on the EP My Friends Never Die quite literally swallows you whole with all these dudes have to offer. As the EP goes on, they sample the oh-so-familiar Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye and bring life to that song in a way I thought would be impossible.

IHC Presents | RSVP/Tickets

We’re excited to say that the formerly-dubstep legend Skream will be headed to sunny SoCal on Sunday. The versatile DJ had a recent change of heart across the musical spectrum and will most likely be throwing down some groovy house and disco records. Although some are disappointed and confused in regards to Skream seemingly separating himself dubstep, a genre he helped pioneer, you should know you’re in for a unique set. I had the opportunity to catch this new side of Skream during his SKREAMIZM tour at the Avalon in Hollywood. I was thrilled with his ability to do so well in the complete different worlds that are disco and house.

Yesterday Skream released his brand new disco banger ‘Rollercoaster’. The song kinda just takes off and glides guided by Sam Frank’s vocals and an undeniably sweet bassline, which I don’t you’ll be able to sit still through with the proper soundsystem. James Murphy’s DFA Records (home of The Rapture, Hot Chip, Yacht, and more) have been releasing some of the most cutting edge music of our generation. Holy Ghost is no exception. This style, to me, is the future. Bringing in all aspects of what makes electronic music so great, but maintaining all the live elements of the classic “rock band” image. It’s quite a spectacle in concert. Drums everywhere. Pianos. Guitars. A wall of analog synths and keyboards.

The guys are finally set to release the followup to their self-titled album on September 10. Dubbed Dynamics, I’m sure we can expect to see a more refined and maturely evolved version of their debut. You’ll find two mighty fine examples below. ‘Dumb Disco Ideas,’ a funky treat, leaked a few weeks back and it showcases the band’s energetic and playful side (check the cowbell). While ‘Okay’ illustrates the emotion harbored behind their sounds. Seems like it has a ton of live concert value towards the end as well. Peep the tracklist and more songs after the jump.

Crosstown Rebels | Hot Creations | Limited Tickets

It looks like Saturday in LA is going to be the house mecca at the Egyptian Theater. While most people will be breathing in pounds of dirt at the state historic park for FYF Fest (I’m only being a little bitter), the deep house heads of Southern California will be flocking to this party. Damian Lazarus, head of Crosstown Rebels, wanted to do the 10 year anniversary of Get Lost LA right. With this all star lineup of gods in their own realm, you can plan for a day PACKED with bass, hi-hats, and soulful rhythm. I’ve included several mixes below for you to get a taste, but the real deal will go from 2PM-10PM all day and followed by an afterparty with Jamie Jones at Create nightclub. With each artists set to spin 1.5-2 hour sets minimum, the following is only the tip of the iceberg. Check the mixes after the jump.

What was once “one rave here” or “one Coachella there” has turned into “Festival Season” and “Festival Season Leading to Festival Season.” There are relatively countless events to attend of all shapes and sizes. Now that people are succumbing to what truly makes a festival special, experiences are more easily shaped towards the fan’s wants and needs. There is now a fourth dimension: vibes. This is coming from someone who has been to almost every West Coast festival on multiple occasions for the past half decade; Lightning In A Bottle is of another realm. IHC Presents | Event Info

August is quite possibly our favourite month. The summer heat starts to die down and helps us all gather ourselves for a second wind full of marvelous music, wicked weather and long nights with perfect people. This weekend our dose of live music is thanks to Gary and the good folks at HARD. To top it all off, A-Trak and Cashmere Cat will be playing an unofficial HARD Summer after-party on Sunday. Thanks to our friends at IHC, Sunday night will definitely be going off with some downright funky electronic R&B and bass-hop.

Now we know HARD is hosting their own special after-party at Exchange and that it goes until 6am. But they obviously won’t have A-Trak and Cashmere Cat spinning. What more? IHC Sundays is a rooftop party. With a pool. And heated water. And pool toys. And we’ve got some free tickets for you.
