Curtis Jones (aka Green Velvet, aka Cajmere) will be donning his Cajmere moniker to ‘jack’ up Yuma on Saturday. His album Too Underground for the Mainstage kicked up a storm in the Chicago and Tech House scene in 2013. His classic: ‘Coffee Pot (It’s Time for the Percolator)’ – and remix by Jamie Jones – caught our ear in quite a few sets over the year, and for good reason. Catch us in the pit.

Lane 8 | Soundcloud

Almost exactly a year ago we asked Lane 8 to open for our first show featuring SHOOK in LA for the modest cost of transportation from SF. Since then Daniel has been consistently improving his production abilities and garnering attention from Anjunabeats to world renowned house label French Express. Let that be a testament to hard work and persistence! With no sign of slowing down, Daniel recently released one of my favorite songs of his to date, “How I Feel.” Using the borderline overused sample of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” in a freshly unique way, he crafts a beat that drives the legendary vocals. Keep your eyes peeled on this dude.

HVOB | Buy LION EP

Our friends at HVOB shared with us a little Minimix for the release of their newest EP: Lion. The entire EP is dripping with the mellow goodness that is Anna and Paul – we expected nothing less of the hardworking duo. The two new originals are hypnotic house tracks whereas the remixes by Wolfram and Stimming are equally enigmatic in a club-oriented way.

We’re also excited to say that we’ll finally get to catch them at SXSW 2014. See ya there!

While we’re at it, you should check the mix they made for us a few months back. Can’t get enough….

Hot Since 82 | Buy Little Black Book

It’s a snowy afternoon in the dark woods. The sky is like a television, tuned to a static channel. I’m seeking shelter from the bitter cold and a warm place to sleep. I stumble onto the outskirts of a town and shout a greeting, but the only sound that returns are my snowshoes crunching through the icy frost. ‘Things You Do To Me’ is a dark mysterious track, and one of the most interesting on Hot Since 82’s new LP, Little Black Book. Daley Padley is the mastermind behind the moniker, and one of the quickest rising names in the deep house scene. Two months ago, Padley’s Essential Mix made big waves and now, just this week, his 12-track LP hit the deck like a fresh caribou. With simple, yet polished grooves, Little Black Book’s dark touch has me venturing into the frozen abyss.

Last monday, Hot Since 82 performed at Sound Nightclub in LA, and I’d probably describe his set as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Crosstown Rebels | Hot Creations | Limited Tickets

It looks like Saturday in LA is going to be the house mecca at the Egyptian Theater. While most people will be breathing in pounds of dirt at the state historic park for FYF Fest (I’m only being a little bitter), the deep house heads of Southern California will be flocking to this party. Damian Lazarus, head of Crosstown Rebels, wanted to do the 10 year anniversary of Get Lost LA right. With this all star lineup of gods in their own realm, you can plan for a day PACKED with bass, hi-hats, and soulful rhythm. I’ve included several mixes below for you to get a taste, but the real deal will go from 2PM-10PM all day and followed by an afterparty with Jamie Jones at Create nightclub. With each artists set to spin 1.5-2 hour sets minimum, the following is only the tip of the iceberg. Check the mixes after the jump.
