Happy Sunday friends! It seems like just yesterday that I walked out of the Polo Fields beginning my countdown for Coachella 2012. And here I sit with less than a week to spare until I’m on my way back! Damn. For those of you who haven’t been, it’s quite literally impossible to overhype what’s in store for us next weekend. AH! Plus I’ll have my FlipCam with me. I like to upload everything I record right when I get home after the day. Ok. I gotta relax. Still have a few more days until our journey begins. We’re a little over halfway through what’s been the best year for music since Pitbull entered the scene and I’m lovin’ it. It’s like Christmas is multiplying. People are opening their minds to new genres, and artists are blending together styles thereby creating new genres. Plus, they’re all working harder than ever putting out projects to stay relevant and atop the game. We’ve been gifted with more bangers than I know what to do with this year; been doing my best to throw it all up here, but I thought it’d be best if I neatly packaged the best of what’s come out this year into a playlist. I tried to stay away from the tracks that are on albums but a few were too good to leave out. Enjoy!

Not to be overly trite or anything but if there’s any time of the year to throw your inhibitions to the wind, it’s summer. Summertime is marked by random tattoos, skydiving and spontaneous road trips, youthful frivolity and carelessness. It’s really the time to try new things, cause why not? I happen to believe that rule should apply to music. Widen your horizons. Forget your notions of what music should be and try something new, even if you would normally think it’s too weird to listen to. For this reason probably, I associate really indie indie music with summertime. I’ve linked three of my odder summer jams below. Hey, maybe you won’t even think they’re that weird.

He’s put together a show with some other local talent that’s going to be at the Lab in Costa Mesa. They’ve been working hard to bring out their best works that you can admire and purchase. 12fv will be helping us get our new look, so make the world go round and shoot ’em some support.
That being said, I went to the mediocre at best Major Rager show in LA last night and was pretty disappointed. The venue was supposed to be at an airfield, but we got rained into some banquet hall type of deal that kinda ruined it. We reached sauna temperatures, the speakers couldn’t handle the volume and Diplo‘s equipment overheated, so he proceeded to beatbox. I was entertained, but it’s not what I wanted out of the show. I shoulda just saved myself for the My Life Every Day show with Calvin Harris, Etienne de Crecy, Burns and friends. Next time I’m back here I’ll be able to legally drink and drive! (under a .08, though.) I’ll be celebrating in San Diego with Nero. GO!
Oh well, the Coachella countdown continues…
