Earlier this year, we had the fortunate pleasure of catching Australia’s RÜFÜS DU SOL at one of their free pop up shows at SXSW. (If you don’t know how the music “festival” SXSW works, direct yourself here.) These electronic wonder-kids made our list of top upcoming acts of 2014 to watch for, and for good reason. Take a bit of Cut Copy, a dash of Jagwar Ma, and a smidge of Classixx and you got yourself a nice RÜFÜS fondue.

These guys are as groovy as they come. Backed by live vocals and a full band, they’re an unmissable act to catch. Lucky for us they have Hermitude opening up, and where better than the Fonda in Hollywood? Check below for your chance to win a couple tickets and after the jump for some tunes. <3

Last week I finally had the chance to sit down with Odesza to get in this interview that’s been a year in the making. I tried to catch them right before their tour with Pretty Lights, because I knew the following year was going to be huge for them. It wasn’t until they finally came back to LA in the midst of an enormous sold out tour that we could chat about their past, present, and future. ODESZA a huge inspiration to many artists currently in the scene and very deservedly so. They’re amongst the select few individuals setting the bar for electronic music as far as production and live shows. Catch the details after the jump!

Hospital Records | TICKETS SOLD OUT!

For those who are playing catch up, Hospital Records is a premier drum & bass label hailing from South London. After seeing its birth in 1996, they’ve housed some of the best d&b acts in the world! Lucky for us southern California folk who don’t see much d&b come our way, they are starting a new event every other month currently based at Complex in Glendale. You may not have been before, but this awesome venue provides an incredibly intimate experience. This will be prime for the d&b heads making their way over for such a special night. Finally we get to quench our thirst for some higher BPM!

The special guest has yet to be announced, but I’m going to go ahead and trust a label who has releases with Netsky, Metrik, Mat Zo (AKA Mrsa), and of course Fred V & Grafix. This morning, Majestic Casual got premiering rights for Darius’s new remix of Bondax. Lucky bastards. Ever since Terence put Cherokee on the backburner, he’s consistently given French House aficionados music to drool over. His productions always manage to mentally take you away from where you are; they just simply put you at ease. This release is no different. The fusing of genres becoming even more common place in electronic music nowadays brings many new sounds to the game. That’s not to say this is easy to do. Some more electronic; more indie. Others a little too experimental; or the sounds just don’t mesh. Slow Magic has found a happy medium between catchy beats, creative sampling, soulful pianos, and uplifting synths, all wrapped into a glorious package of new music.

With his debut album How To Run Away (set to release on September 9th via Downtown Records), comes two singles that show a lot of promise. His range of dreamy vibes to groovy, powerful rhythms can’t go unmentioned. The dude has got some serious remix value as well. Check the tunes below and his tour dates after the jump.

Odesza | Soundcloud | Free Downloads

ODESZA continues their meteoric rise into our hearts eternally with the announcement of their second album since 2012 In Return. After their My Friends Never Die EP launched them into worldwide acclaim, garnering a tour as support for Pretty Lights and select shows with Bonobo, they’ve been unstoppable. With seemingly endless tour dates, they’ve managed to continue to put out consistent releases across the board. ODESZA’s single “Memories That You Call (feat. Monsoonsiren)” is a good sign that this album will be their claim to fame and continued sold out headline dates for years to come. Excited for these dudes.
