If you were into the Joey Bada$$ tracks I posted last week here’s some more from him & Capital Steez I dug up via their YouTube/Progressive Era mixtape. Just been playing these dudes on repeat, shit is so nice. The buzz is gonna come soon, they got some real talent. Even got some love from Mac a couple days ago. Hit the jump for all of it.

A handful of solid new tracks this week. Another good track from Ab-Soul who keeps consistently putting out good music of substance. Couple from Mac Miller, one featuring Diggy Simmons who just confused me with that verse. Male Nikki? I don’t understand. Fashawn hooked up with Wiz Khalifa and made a solid crusin jam. Still waiting on Wiz to spit an original thought. Cormega, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Saigon teamed up to create the super group M.A.R.S…. the first track getting me excited for things to come, just bars. Bronsolino’s gonna have a great year. And J. Cole also hooked it up with an unreleased song too. Good ass week. Here’s to a better one next week.

Ab-Soul – Showin Love
Mac Miller ft. Diggy Simmons – Definition of Cool
Mac Miller – Loud
Wiz Khalifa – Money (ft. Fashawn)
Cormega, Action Bronson, Ron Marciano, Saigon (M.A.R.S.) – MARS
J. Cole – Visionz of Home

Brooklyn’s Joey Bada$$ just released “Waves” off his upcoming 1999 tape. Dude is only 17 but you would never guess. Always refreshing to hear someone who can spit with something of value to express (ATTN dime a dozen rappers: we no longer care about your come up stories). I got stuck after “They say hard work pays off/Well tell the Based God don’t quit his day job.” There’s something about the rhythm of NY rap that no one else can fxck with IMO. Don’t sleep on the kid. Look out for 1999 next month.

| Like I told you, I know nxggas who trash rappin/Worried bout the trending fashion rather than descending passion |

Joey Bada$$ – Waves
Joey Bada$$ x Jay Steez – Survival Tactics
Joey Bada$$ – Blooming Blossoms (Flowers pt. 1)

Zeds Dead continues to hold it down for Canada – these dudes are consistently delivering bangers with every release. Am I wrong to think their local shows consist of batches of Canadians downing bottles of maple syrup and losing their shit? The Adrenaline EP made some serious waves and this week they released a couple free sources of delight for the fans. The first is a 7 minute mini dubstep mix that impressively packs in 16 different tracks with a lot of energy. The second is a fucking awesome remix of The Roots’ “Dear God 2.0” which features Monsters of Folk. Must listen. Dear God, please send us more ZD.

The Roots ft. Monsters of Folk – Dear God 2.0 (Zeds Dead Remix)

If you didn’t already know, Hooks of Zeds Dead boasts some impressive graffiti skills. They’re currently in the midst of their massive Living Dead tour, which will be stopping all over; check the dates here and watch a dope video of Hooks throwing up a Living Dead graffiti piece in Toronto.

A little bass never hurt anybody…

Fat remix from Santa Barbara duo Candyland, turning Bingo Player’s insanely catchy “Rattle” into a dubstep-to-moombahcore jam. I think one tempo would’ve been solid but it still sounds good. That’s how a remix is done. It’s entered in a remix contest on Beatport, vote for it here

Skream just released his remix to Rusko’s bangariffic ‘Somebody to Love.’ Takes out that drop and picks up the pace a little bit. Not too filthy. Whatever the hell he starts doing with those synths about halfway through is awesome.

Rusko – Somebody to Love (Skream Remix)
Skream – Midnight Request Line

New Knife Party!

Labrinth – Last Time (Knife Party Remix)

501 just released this track featuring Belle Humble, who’s been featured on Flux Pavilion’s “Cracks.” They’ve got a nice range in the bass sound, definitely worth your time going through their soundcloud.

501 – HeadRush ft. Belle Humble

Another dope release from Bassex. Whenever he gets around to dropping an EP big things are gonna follow. Don’t want no negative people around me.

Catch him opening for Gemini and KOAN Sound @ The Galaxy Theater 4/2. (Tickets)

Brains – Positive People ft. TenorFly (Bassex Remix)

You’d find Rhymesayers’ Brother Ali by flipping to ‘U’ in a dictionary, hovering somewhere between ‘underappreciated’ and ‘underrated.’ It’s my belief that his style is simply unluckily living in the wrong era of hip-hop, where substance has given way to style. The Minnesotan just released a free EP, The Bite Marked Heart, a seven track project that further displays his soulful lyrical ability that shows its face through skilled storytelling and writing rather than abstract metaphors. This is an EP about love, but not in the simp-ass Drake way — more grown man shit. Look out for his Mourning in America album later this year.

Brother Ali – Shine On +++
Brother Ali – I’ll Be There (ft. Phonte & Stokley Williams)
