Little is known about Pittsburgh’s Thomas Fec (aka Tobacco) as he keeps his identity something of an enigma. By using only analog equipment, Tobacco crafts experimental electronica, which creeps towards a darker brand of psychedelic trip-hop. His lo-fi industrial grooves and twisted melodies are not only clever, but unique.

They’ve only been producing for about a year, but the music coming from Netherlands based duo andhim have a seasoned texture. They like to call their style “Superhouse,” and considering the dance party for one in my bedroom right now, I can’t dispute.

Hip hop and electronic music are colliding in an exciting way as the trap movement keeps growing. Lately, dance floors have been filled with low-end neurocrunk and the kids are begging for more. The problem is, trap bangers are a dime a dozen; everyday there’s a new air horn drenched “festival” remix of Afrojack, Dada Life, Hardwell or the like. The good news is there’s still some cool underground #trapshit laying around. Let’s get weird.
