IHC Presents | RSVP/Tickets

We’re excited to say that the formerly-dubstep legend Skream will be headed to sunny SoCal on Sunday. The versatile DJ had a recent change of heart across the musical spectrum and will most likely be throwing down some groovy house and disco records. Although some are disappointed and confused in regards to Skream seemingly separating himself dubstep, a genre he helped pioneer, you should know you’re in for a unique set. I had the opportunity to catch this new side of Skream during his SKREAMIZM tour at the Avalon in Hollywood. I was thrilled with his ability to do so well in the complete different worlds that are disco and house.

Yesterday Skream released his brand new disco banger ‘Rollercoaster’. The song kinda just takes off and glides guided by Sam Frank’s vocals and an undeniably sweet bassline, which I don’t you’ll be able to sit still through with the proper soundsystem. Check the track and how to win guaranteed entry after the jump. This event WILL reach capacity so get tickets or get there early!!

Holy Ghost | Preorder on iTunes | PHOTOS

James Murphy’s DFA Records (home of The Rapture, Hot Chip, Yacht, and more) have been releasing some of the most cutting edge music of our generation. Holy Ghost is no exception. This style, to me, is the future. Bringing in all aspects of what makes electronic music so great, but maintaining all the live elements of the classic “rock band” image. It’s quite a spectacle in concert. Drums everywhere. Pianos. Guitars. A wall of analog synths and keyboards.

The guys are finally set to release the followup to their self-titled album on September 10. Dubbed Dynamics, I’m sure we can expect to see a more refined and maturely evolved version of their debut. You’ll find two mighty fine examples below. ‘Dumb Disco Ideas,’ a funky treat, leaked a few weeks back and it showcases the band’s energetic and playful side (check the cowbell). While ‘Okay’ illustrates the emotion harbored behind their sounds. Seems like it has a ton of live concert value towards the end as well. Peep the tracklist and more songs after the jump.

As Oliver’s meteoric rise to the top of dance music trudges on, they continue to slay festivals and clubs. The Los Angeles duo will be spinning a hometown show at Drai’s IHC Sundays tonight! I’ve had the pleasure of catching a few of Oliver’s shows this year and every time it’s a very different and unique set. I can’t wait to hear the fresh batch of funk they throw down tonight!

Before Oliver takes to the decks, Mighty Mouse will be overseeing the ones and twos. You can expect a signature disco sound reverberating from wall to wall. Tickets can be purchased online for guaranteed entry or RSVP for free entry before 11pm. The pool will be open and they will have pool toys if you’re not too cool to get a little wet. As far as I can tell the only dress code “rule” is that you can’t wear a tank top unless it’s designer or you’re Oliver/Mighty Mouse. Hope to see some familiar faces up on the rooftop tonight!

Hey Marseilles

Up and coming on the folk-pop frontier, Seattle six-piece Hey Marseilles will be a difficult outfit to ignore pretty soon. Lines We Trace, the followup to their debut album, To Travel & Trunks, was released earlier this year and it’s nothing short of wonderful. They’ve got an irresistibly crisp sound, reminiscent of the best of The Decemberists, with a hint of The Head and the Heart. Pick up their album on iTunes and check out some of their songs + videos after the jump.

Crosstown Rebels | Hot Creations | Limited Tickets

It looks like Saturday in LA is going to be the house mecca at the Egyptian Theater. While most people will be breathing in pounds of dirt at the state historic park for FYF Fest (I’m only being a little bitter), the deep house heads of Southern California will be flocking to this party. Damian Lazarus, head of Crosstown Rebels, wanted to do the 10 year anniversary of Get Lost LA right. With this all star lineup of gods in their own realm, you can plan for a day PACKED with bass, hi-hats, and soulful rhythm. I’ve included several mixes below for you to get a taste, but the real deal will go from 2PM-10PM all day and followed by an afterparty with Jamie Jones at Create nightclub. With each artists set to spin 1.5-2 hour sets minimum, the following is only the tip of the iceberg. Check the mixes after the jump.

Cults

Promise of new music from guy/gal indie essentials Cults has finally arrived in the form of “I Can Hardly Make You Mine,” a dizzyingly catchy choon. Much like their former singles, this song is dripping in fuzzy reverb, like some lo-fi pop dream soundtrack. Its whirling in the sweetest way. And it sounds a lot like something Tame Impala might have composed (and discarded) for their most recent album, Lonerism. “Static,” Cults’ followup to their 2011 self-titled debut, is set to release in October. Check out “I Can Hardly Make You Mine” below.
