London Grammar | Buy the EPs

Chris Douridas and mfg’s School Night is known for bringing the best of the underground to Bardot Hollywood. This week, the team brought a very special act: London Grammar. What made it even more special was the fact that this was the trio’s US debut. We caught a live experience of their beautiful vocals and tunes.

Curses! | Drop the Lime | $10 Tickets to LA show!

Luca Venezia’s other identity, Curses, allows him to take a storied turn from the rock & roll inspired breakbeat that he has become known for with Drop the Lime. He dropped off the map circa 2009 and has since been shrouded in mystery; until just recently. He maintains his choppy bass style but puts down the rockabilly guitar for “New Gotham House” synths. With his revival of Curses, Luca continues to flirt with the dark and mysterious side of the underground as is evident in the mix below. Marble Music just released his newest 2-side EP, So Good.

Giraffage is a prime example of quality talent waiting to be discovered by the savvy. He hails from San Francisco and brings down the laid back, smoked out mentality with him. After seeing him at SXSW on multiple stages, his immense talent became apparent.

After first listen of his debut album ‘Needs,’ which he said was written “through the worst time of my life and also the best,” it seems like the perfect addition to your intimate playlists. The beats are slow, intricate, and sample-packed. But live is another story. The sound quickly becomes bass heavy and mimics the energy I see at a lot of trap shows. I mean that in the best way possible. Check this dude out if you want to have fun dancing to something different.

ODESZA is the joint project of Seattle based BeachesBeaches and Catacombkid. Their solo projects are known for their downtempo dream-hop productions. With two heads in the game as ODESZA, they are able to delve deeper into a more ethereal sound. They play around with fleeting basslines, airy melodies and choppy vocals to arouse a sense of peace and relaxation. You can download their debut here for free.
