Wale dropped The Eleven One Eleven Theory a couple days ago, the precursor to his upcoming album Ambition. Wale is the only man who seems to be working as hard as Curren$y (scratch that, I’m pretty sure Curren$y’s put out 6 tapes since Weekend at Burnie’s). I haven’t really given Wale a listen since he signed with Maybach Music Group; I was wet on 100 Miles and Running when I first heard it a couple years ago but his style started to get played out. After a while the metaphors and wordplay seemed forced. Wale gets really lyrical with this tape though, beginning with a pretty sick spoken word and not letting up from there. I’m still unsure about his ability to make a commercially viable album, but if he keeps making music like this I’ll keep appreciating.
