Starfucker made their way back to California after a 4 month hiatus to start their U.S. tour, and we weren’t about to miss it! For some reason, they chose to leave Los Angeles out of the loop, but still made for two SoCal dates that we got to go too. Our photographer Philip Mendoza shooting the Pomona stop. I know what you’re thinking, “Woah bro. Same band? Two nights in a row? Doesn’t it get boring? Repetitive? Lose it’s magic?” No! Not at all. First, let’s disregard the fact that these guys are one of the most entertaining live bands I’ve seen. This is of course, as far as their ability to be better than the recordings and their sheer RAW energy when it comes to performing live. Let’s also disregard the fact that their lightshow is equipped with multicolored lasers that move all over the venue, giving them the most magical silhouettes throughout the performance (this and this). That being said, the two shows were very different. Check out the HD videos after the jump..

Starfucker – Death as a Fetish

Pomona was an all ages show with upwards of 800 fans in what was more of a venue than the Casbah, which was a bar that housed roughly 200 of age people. I say ‘people,’ because the place is more of a locals bar where people go just because it’s a cool place to hang out. Where as at Pomona, more of the people were there for Starfucker, ready to get loud and go full dance face 2000. The Casbah was much more intimate, and people kept getting pissed at me for bumping into them. I feel kinda bad but at the same time I don’t feel bad at all. Stay out of the pit! Regardless, everyone was having a good time. It’s so hard not to with these guys. Their energy is infectious. Both shows were opened by San Franciso’s Painted Palms, which was an introduction to me. I highly recommend you check more on them by clicking here.
