[Concert Recall] SOLD OUT Flosstradamus, Krewella, and Run DMT @ Avalon Hollywood

Flosstradamus | Krewella | Run DMT

I got a last minute opportunity to crash one of LA’s premier Friday night event series and was prepared to capitalize. After bending over backwards to situate a ride, I was ready to let it all out. I wasn’t about to drive myself and sacrifice partying with trap specialists Flosstradamus in one of the genre’s world capitals. No, no, no. The plan was to get turnt up. Am I using that right? Fresh off their Wet & Reckless tour with Dillon Francis, the hoodie boys were expected to put together an unforgettable set for the sold out Hollywood crowd.

Anyone who frequents the Los Angeles club scene in recent years knows that Avalon isn’t necessarily the place to be when ticket sales close for their event. Impatient partygoers line up around every side of the building. Some with tickets. A lot without. All just hoping this particular night doesn’t make the headlines as a shut down event. I was pleased to find out that Avalon had figured their shit out after previous flops from former parties. All my friends without tickets managed to get in. The venue wasn’t filled beyond capacity. It was just us and a good night of music ahead.

As the party started to pick up, Run DMT took to the decks with his high energy, relentless electro riot. With such a suggestive name, I was hoping for some bangers that were out of this dimension. His grimy dub productions had all arms in the air and everyone on their feet. A choice opener to warm up the crowd for what was to come. Everything got heated as Floss made their way on stage. The crowd roared for the Chicago bread electronic revolutionaries. These dudes blew up after their work on Original Don and began their journey of making a name for themselves. Through gaining support from A-Trak and Fool’s Gold, they now have a crew to roll with. Pushing the boundaries of electronic music even further. Their energy on stage was infectious. With beats that killed and the mic skills to match, everyone got so hyped. They vocalized their love for the pit and the entire place was sending that love right back. Not a single dull moment in the set. Legends in the making!

After the night seemingly peaked during their performance, it was time for Krewella to lay down a headlining set at the very club they were the closers for ten months prior. Amazing what can happen in such a relatively small amount of time. These guys harbor a lot of talk around Southern California, but to me they were just another electronic outfit. The only difference really was that the DJs were two cute girls, and a third band mate dude who shouted randomly throughout the performance. All I’m sayin’ is that if you have to get someone to come out on stage to start the “ONE MORE SONG!” chant, you’re doing too much. Hell of a night regardless, and I’m happy to have been able to see these artists for myself. Love you Los Angeles ❤ ❤ ❤
