After ticket sales came to a close a bit earlier than expected and a bunch of my friends lagged, this show ended up being one for the bros. Perfect! I could have called it, considering how small Key Club is and the fact that HARD was putting it on. But it was all built up to be a super epic and intimate show…for the bros. We were running late and I didn’t want to miss ANY of Gesaffelstein, assuming he’d perform before Brodinski. And I was just hoping they’d play together for a larger portion of the set. Check some tracks and the HD video I got after the jump.
After the 20 minute line, we hit the floor and were able to catch the end of Destructo’s bangin’ deep house set. Key Club was PACKED. Front to back. Side to side. Barely enough room to bob your head. When the clock struck 11, Destructo handed the decks over to Gesa and BroBro. Little did I know that from that point and onward to 2AM (Los Angeles’ stupid curfew), they would be taking turns, back to back throwing down the most killer techno set that I couldn’t even dream of. They played off each other so well. Being a boss in between turns. Smoking cigarettes. Chugging bottles. Smoking cigarettes. Dancing. And they even found time to smoke more cigarettes.
The mixed the tracks up like kings. Everyone pulled out their cameras for BROMANCE EP tracks “Control Movement” and “Let the Beat Control Your Body.” My favorite were the surprise tracks. Especially the ones that were undeniably Gesaffelstein. Like his remix of “Lemonade” that you can preview below. My favorite part was when Gesa dropped Daft Punk’s “Rollin’ and Scratchin’!” I didn’t see anyone throwing up their pyramids but hey! I can respect the French love. Awesome show. Even Skrillex, Deadmau5 and Zedd showed up. Skrillex managed to steal some of the spotlight like he did when Dillon Francis played at Key Club a few months back, but it was his birthday this time. Happy birthday Sonny! Can’t wait til Gesa and BroBro come back.
