San Francisco’s garage rock wunderkind Ty Segall recently announced that his next album Twins will drop later this year. He kindly released the album’s first single “The Hill” yesterday to whet our ear buds. It’s true to Ty form–a massively convulsing parade of fuzzy guitar distortion. There’s an evident Lennon influence in the vocals. His previous album, Goodbye Bread, was a slice of garage rock heaven. It’ll be exciting to see where he takes this next one.

I sound like an idiot when I try to talk about hip-hop so I will spare you by just saying that Murs and Fashawn are infuggincredible on their own so I was very excited to hear about their colab. “Slash Gordon” was finally released a few days ago but was well worth the wait. Check it out.

Aberdeen four-piece Copy Haho seems to have revitalized a sound I thought was left in the crumb trails of indie essentials years ago. It took me a few listens to to figure out what their recently released self-titled LP reminded me of. (It was Hot Hot Heat.) These lads have churned out a sunny album of optimistic indie-pop jams that just might eek its way onto the essential list itself. Granted, it is nothing break through but it is simple and honest and consistent. Who could ask for more?

If you are looking to drown under a wave of indie beach-rock goodness, look no further: DIIV’s recent LP ‘Oshin’ is your answer. It’s the same sort of glimmering daze to get lost in as the likes of Beach Fossils and Real Estate. It is sun-drenched and ethereal as anything of or pertaining to dream pop but it really is instantly addicting. Amongst its tipsy clatter and distilled guitars, it is rooted in something very solid. These Brooklyn-based dudes really have natural talent. Everything comes together to form a glassy album that seamlessly glides from one track to the next; you’re never left to wonder about the musicians themselves–the attention is purely on the music. This is a gloriously restorative album for the brain.
