Uppermost is a 22-year-old producer. His forward-thinking French grooves are on point. In fact, when he released “One” earlier this year, many were convinced it was a Daft Punk side project. Well, Uppermost’s 4th EP “Control” released today and features his signature upbeat rhythm with a wide variety of sounds from smooth, future with soul, to old school hip hop breaks. I would happily run through a review of each individual tune, but seeing how there are 12 tracks of distinct variation, I would be here all day. sparing myself from carpal tunnel syndrome, this album is worth the download.

Yesterday, French electro producer Uppermost dropped ‘One,’ a 12-piece nostalgic album that takes us back to that Ed Banger 07’ feel of gritty funk. In the first couple tracks we’re tossed into a high-energy storm of raw bass as uppermost takes the wheel from Justice and does laps around ‘Cross.’ The très chic flow of metal and disco is something I personally could riot to. Chaos ensues until track 8. ‘Gather’ takes the album in a 180° turn to some very daft punk-esque loungey funk. After that, ‘Dreamworld’ is exactly as it sounds as we float downstream on a cloud of melodic beauty. The LP comes to a smooth conclusion and I for one, am satisfied.
