I don’t know what it is with dubstep artists as a whole consistently putting out albums, but I’m not complaining. I’m only saying because you see more dub LPs/EPs coming out than electronic. And the electronic EPs with an original and 5 remixes don’t count. Anyway, Emalkay has been in the game for days, and is finally getting support in the U.S. with his most recent release of Eclipse. I saw his name on this year’s HARD Summer bill and skipped over it, only to find Skrillex ranting and raving about Eclipse on his twitter. And just today, HARD put out an artist spotlight on the guy, so I took the hint, grabbed the album, and couldn’t be happier that I did.

The album starts off running with what Chronic Mncher and I believe to be one of the fattest dubstep tracks of the year so far. He goes through the album weaving together old school deep dub with the grimy new school brostep synths. All the while, he throws in some drum and bass as I’ve been warming up to the sound. True UK dubstep artist, and this is just the beginning for him, in the states at least.

Tracklist

1. Fabrication Delightful Choice!
2. Crusade
3. Keep Goin On
4. Space Hopper
5. Tanspose
6. Flesh & Bone

A European fusion of Sweden born David Andersson and Londoner Joe Attard, Punks Jump Up is a concoction of electronic, dance, punk and rock. They don’t really GAF about what genre they’re labeled as, as long as it gets people going and has a hell-of-a-lot of energy. I first found these guys through their remix of Miike Snow’s “Animal,” which I put on the second YOLO List, and though overly remixed, it’s still my favorite version. They get synth-crazy and I’m all about it. Lately they’ve been producing their own electronic tracks with the release of their Blockhead EP that features remixes from Hey Today! and Zombie Nation.

Their second major release was “Dance to Our Disco,” and it showcases the range of sound they were looking for. Reminds me of 80s punk jams and has mysterious guest vocals rumored to be from The Hives’ Howling Pelle. I was big on The Hives, so the track strikes all the right chords with me. Check out their video of the song and have your way with the tracks below.

Hey everybody! Good to be back in the mix after an interesting weekend out of town…Got some fresh new music for you guys this week. Tyler, the Creator of OFWGKTA is releasing his much anticipated second album Goblin this Tuesday. +Jangbar will have us covered on that one. These guys are doing crazy big things and they’re even gonna be at HARD Summer this year. Should spice things up a bit. Also, what I’m most excited about is the audio and video recordings that have been surfacing from Coachella. There is nothing like having a recording of a set you were a part of. Something that you can save forever. When the crowd cheers it sends chills down your spine, because you were there and can swear that you hear yourself. I’m referring mainly to The Strokes recording. Amazing quality and it’s just as flawless as I remember. I zipped it up so you guys can download it easily. Go ahead and click here. Without further ado, I bring you #42:

Alright so I’ve been waiting to talk about this song for far too long, and I won’t wait a moment longer! The first time I heard this track was when Nero threw it on their essential mix (Click to DL) a few months back. All I could do was cue the essential mix up to 58:48 to hear that banger of a track drop for a less than a minute, until last week. Nero released their “Guilt EP” and this remix was one of the bonuses. You can bet Nero wouldn’t have chosen Feed Me‘s rendition for nothing. Classic Feed Me with his unruly concoction of bass and twists and grime, but with a build up and drop that rivals most. Feed Me’s kickin’ ass and taking names, and I’m looking forward to seeing where he takes his sound in the future.

Nero – Innocence (Feed Me Remix)

BONUS!

Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend (Feed Me Remix)
Feed Me – Silicone Lube

With indie and alternative music being where it’s at, finding new music is as easy as watching a new episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (season 7 on the way!). And every once and awhile a commercial will surprise me with a quality tune I haven’t heard before. Let me start this off by saying that I’m pretty sure I’ve found a new love. Mette Lindberg, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour‘s frontwoman, is an adorable piece o’ meat and her sexy European accent brings only positive things. The Danish band consists of vocalist Lindberg and producer Lars Iverson. Their live act extends to a sextet that even has a badass horns section. They had their breakthrough in 2008 when they opened for Amy Winehouse and Apple featured “Around the Bend” in one of their iTouch commercials. Most recently, and how I found them, they were caught performing “The Golden Age” in a Heineken ad during NBA playoffs.

Commercial value aside, these guys have a lot to offer. Stringing similarites from acts like Dragonette and Lykke Li, this psychadelic pop band is a time machine ride from the 70s to today and back…and then through space. Their debut album Fruit was released in late 2009 and it’s a basket packed to the brim with a fresh selection of catchy goodness. They just put out The Golden Age EP mid April that featured three new tracks and an 80s cover. Real good stuff! I’d keep my eyes peeled for these guys.

I almost lost my shit when I saw that Doctor P and Flux Pavillion made the bill for Audiotistic this year. Circus Records has been working to get their boys Visas so they can finally show the U.S. exactly what’s up with dubstep now and where it’s headed in the future. It’s been a year since Gold Dust became the dubstep anthem for dj sets all over the world, acting as one of the gateway jams for most people into the genre. As far as dubstep goes, these two are among the best. Their styles are so uniquely awesome and hard-hitting that when they combine forces it’s something out of a dream. Doctor P’s ruthless squeaks on Flux’s bone rattling synths have yet to leave me disappointed and this song is no different. I love how their sounds are distinguishable in the track. Can you tell what’s who? The track drops July 3rd, so we got somethin’ extra to look forward to before the fourth.

Make sure you get your tickets for Audio asap. Last year’s was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. Mainly because I love the NOS Event Center for this shit, and it could have maybe been because of A-Trak, Treasure Fingers, Bassnectar, Rusko, Kid Cudi, Cosmic Gate, Kill the Noise, Harvard Bass and others…maybe.

Delightful Treats

WARNING: You NEED bass for these

Plan B – Love Goes Down (Doctor P Remix)
Flux Pavillion – Bass Cannon Delightful Choice!
12th Planet – Reasons (Doctor P Remix)
