Hey guys! Sorry for holding off on those of you who were expecting the list on Sunday. I hate excuses almost more than anything, so I’ll spare you haha. Our monthly event with our collective friends called Jelly Filled Fridays went down for the second time, and it’s cool to be moving forward with it! A lot of people coming out are hearing new music, having fun, being exposed to our friends’ art, and meeting new people. Not much else we could ask for, so we’ll keep to it! Nothing to say that hasn’t already been said about these guys. I love them and their style so much. I’ve been waiting for this song, which was originally a remix, for way too long. The breakdown isn’t as good as the remixed version, but it’s nice to finally have a completed song. I included the remix and a video I got of when they played it at HHM 2010 below. Here’s what they said:

Dubs for clubs Part.2: ‘Deeper’. This track has been in every club set we’ve played since back in 2009, when it originally started life as a remix for drum and bass legend TC, for his track “Deep”. We never finished the mix and ended up turning it into and original production a while back, and now we’ve decided to give it away for free, freshly finished off and brought up to date. Massive big ups to TC and Jon & Al (D-Style Records).

INTO THE AM is putting things together in a whole new way for us Southern Californians. Bring some household names up and down the coast, and it looks like just the beginning. They set up A-Trak in Santa Barbara a day before he goes to Sutra in OC and Voyeur in SD. If you’re anywhere in the area, a trip to Santa Barbara is in no way out of reach! I love it there…Almost too much. Still bitter I didn’t get into UCSB, but you gotta play the cards you were dealt. Anyhow, here’s how you can win:

Should be a fun show! I’ve seen A-Trak countless times and plan to see him even more in the future. His sets are always so fun and different from each other. Here are the best videos I’ve gotten of him:

Noisia, stylized as NOISIΛ (‘VISION’ rotated 180°), released their debut album ‘Split the Atom’ in 2010, and it set the tone for a lot of the grimy bangers producers are still trying to emulate. Well today, they’re rereleasing it on mau5trap records as a special edition that includes their two new singles ‘Tommy’s Theme’ and ‘Could This Be’ with a series of insane remixes.

I suggest you scroll down to the Kill the Noise remix RIGHT NOW! That shit is absolute fire. Starts off super thuggish and drops into the sickest drum’n’bass beat. I’m pissed that I have to sit down at work and listen to it quietly. Shit goes so hard.

Happy days! Don’t want to run on too long here, just wanted to say how awesome the free Starfucker / Nosaj Thing show was at USC. So cool. It was set up at a park inside their campus, and just…ugh. Those lucky bastards! UCI needs some shit like that. I caught another drumstick! I think that puts me in the double digits of drum sticks I’ve gotten. I gave it away though. I already have a drumstick from their past SoCal shows haha. Oh yeah! My birthday is tomorrow. What to do….what to do. For now, I’ll leave you with this quote:

I don’t care how big or mainstream someone gets, as long as they’re still making the music that made me like them in the first place. “We Found Love,” for example, does not embody the Calvin Harris I love. Anyone who’s followed Deadmau5 or A-Trak from the beginning knows these guys got where they are off of just doing them and being really damn good at it.

Take two of Deadmau5’s new tracks: Maths and Get In The Cart, Pig. Both showcasing the best of his polar opposite sides, hard electro and progressive. Kinda like The Reward Is Cheese or Strobe. And A-Trak’s new songs show a bit of his hip hop background and his keen ability to make banging indie dance tracks from remixes. Reminds me of Ray Ban Vision or his Heads Will Roll remix. I stand by these two!

Good evening fellow music seekers. Had another all around good week, especially in regards to the new music I picked up. I just gotta say how happy I am that Deadmau5 put out another super epic track and it’s better than anything I could ask for…IMO! Also FINALLY got to see Knife Party last night (and Kill the Noise Post-KillKillKill EP). They both were SO FUN! It was a hard show to be relatively sober for, because everyone from beginning to end played high energy sets that got the crowd very involved in. The security guards couldn’t handle us. G’damn. I love that shit. But at the end I was so dead and sweaty I made the guy from Bedazzled look dry. Here’s a video of a new song Knife Party made just for LA >:] Enjoy #83!
