I don’t usually buy music, but when I do I prefer to support true underground talent. 21 year old Louis La Roche (AKA Brette Ewels) is nothing new around these parts, and today he surprised me with a ‘single’ that’s two singles? I must be missing something here, but I’m all for it! He collabs with UK rapper Ad-Apt on the title track Untrue. Ad-Apt’s flow works so well on Louis’ tracks, as they’ve collabed before on Missing You (below). Louis also showcases talent beyond his production ability for the first time by singing the chorus! Gotta give the kid some props. Touch Wood takes an instrumental approach influenced by 80s synth pop without using any samples. Can’t get enough of the grooooove.

HEY! Pretty interesting week behind and ahead of me. I deactivated my FaceBook and made a new one just to post stuff for C+A+D, and I feel like a new man! This post takes a time machine back to over a decade ago. If you were into the musically relevant in the 2000s, you remember the phase of the “The” bands. The Vines, The Strokes, The White Stripes, and The Hives, where the focus of this Coachella spotlight will be held! Well, if you remember that phase, you remember the sheer rawness of it all. All these grungy kids in their early 20s just pushing rock and roll revival in a fresh, new way.

I’ve always been big into how a band presents themselves, and The Hives were one of the bands that led the pack. Always wearing matching suits and rocking out as good as the best of ’em. I love this type of music for its energy. You can’t be sad in a crowd to this music. It pulls everything out of you and brings the crowd together in a very special way. I’m just as excited to see them as I am for rock and roll to cycle back into the spotlight. If it’s done right, it’s the best to see live. Do yourself a favor and see The Hives on Day 3 of Coachella.

Looks like everyone has pretty much got their goodie-boxes, judging by the hoard of mobile uploads and instagram photos people have been posting on FaceBook. We get it, bro. From what I have heard of Amon Tobin‘s ethereal productions, it’s safe to say that it will be unlike anything you’ve ever listened to. He likes to create sounds of instruments that “are not from this world.” There isn’t much order with his songs but it’s what he does with them that makes it captivating. So many unfamiliar sounds. So much bass! The one thing I know for sure about the dude is that his live show is next level shit. One of the most large-scale, innovative productions we’ll probably ever bear witness. Actually, at the rate of things nowadays, that could be a claim. Just watch the video. You’ll be able to decide right here and now if it’s something you want to be a part of. I for one am NOT going to miss this. Stream his 7th studio album ISAM below.

Damn. So much good stuff today. This calls for a new series! First thing’s first: woke up to FYF Fest and Goldenvoice dropping this massive LA concert lineup surrounding Coachella. Holy shit! It’s pretty much a dream come true, especially for people who didn’t want to or couldn’t get Coachella tickets. Watch out for the pre-sales and whatnot because a lot of those are going to sell out as soon as they go on sale. Hit the jump for more:
