When I think of the godfathers of modern electronic music, a few names come to mind: Daft Punk, James Murphy, Justice, and the lesser known brothers of Soulwax (AKA 2manyDJs). The amount of influence these guys have had on many of our idols shouldn’t go unmentioned. They’re well respected and highly regarded in the electronic music community by many, but aren’t nearly as recognized as they should be. When taking time out of their studio in Belgium, these two are traveling the world; either with their full band for the sensational live show that is Soulwax or in the brotherly twosome as 2manyDJs.

While they are normally found rocking the larger stages of festivals, seeing a club show curated by these two is a privilege. Not to mention that they’ll be at Sound Nightclub which coincidentally has the best sound in town. LA, we’re in for a treat tomorrow.

Mighty Mouse | Soundcloud

It’s nice to watch someone’s progression and see that they are continuing to grow and master their skill. Mighty Mouse has always had a knack for releasing groovy disco and house tracks, but his most latest release is the pinnacle of his journey thus far. The astounding vocals from Monarchy’s Ra Black backing up Mighty Mouses’s funky beat brings the song together beautifully. Almost reminiscent of Michael Jackson, if I do say so myself. Excited to see where else Mighty Mouse takes his sound.

Flume | Chet Faker | Our Flume Interview

It’s no surprise to see these Australian natives coming together again for an official release. Flume and Chet formerly collaborated on “Left Alone,” one of the many standout tracks on Flume’s double-platinum, self-titled record. When you see Chet’s lumberjack-esque and raw exterior, you’d never imagine the range and power of his vocals. Combined with a textbook Flume beat on “Drop the Game”, and you’re feeling weightless; gliding just overhead a foggy rain forest. Is that weird? See for yourself below.

Gramatik | Our Interview | Soundcloud

Last year I had the fortunate opportunity to venture off on my own to central and South America. I took any chance I had to talk to someone and direct the conversation to what makes them happy or what their passions entailed. Those conversations really put the human spirit and the world into perspective to me in a whole new way. With my answer to both of those questions being music, I was under serious pressure to show them something worthwhile and fresh. It didn’t take long for me to get set on sharing Gramatik and his universal bread of hip hop and electronic. The album I showed everyone is below, and you can download it free here.

A tribute to different, funkier times. Boys Noize goes vintage on his remix of an unforgotten legend. Reminiscent of his remix of Chemical Brothers “Yeah”, or Cut Copy’s “Lights and Music”, or even Feist’s “My Moon My Man”. Boys Noize adds his trademark grit on these tracks in ways we could never have imagined.

Cut Copy have been front runners in the indie/electronic sound since the style’s inception. Being from Australia, every song has an unmistakeable tropical feel to go with its inherent danciness. With their upcoming album Free Your Mind coming out next month, we can surely expect them to take us into untrodden territory of indie dance. They’ve always had an influential role in the genre. “We Are Explorers” is their latest single off the album, and it’s a true piece of art. Duck Sauce | Soundcloud

Finally some action on the end of the clown-crew best known by their Duck Sauce moniker. I first heard this track over three years ago at EDC when Duck Sauce debuted in southern California. I’ll never forget that night, let alone every other time I’ve seen them. This song incorporates just about everything I love about the duo: it’s fun, it’s funky, and it has a vintage sample that forces you to sing along. Awhile ago A-Trak tweeted something along the lines of “this duck is finally fully roasted if you catch my drift,” so hopefully that means we’ll get more singles ’til the album drops next year!
