As Halloweek draws to a close, the best is still yet to come! We wrapped up our Day of the Dead contest that received an AWESOME response, and now it’s time for our very own pre-party. The Donuts is a collective of our friends who are DJs, artists, and blog runners (us), and we use it to send a message out about the capabilities everyone has to control their futures! While we pursue our passions, this monthly event brings together old and new friends to appreciate the art and music of forward thinking individuals we’ve connected with. Just a heads up that C+A+D favorite RAC (Remix Artist Collective) has another remix compilation set to release on November 6th called Chapter One. Interesting title, because it makes it sound like it’s their first compilation. Which it isn’t. You can download their past compilations for free on their website by clicking here and going to their “Releases” tab. This is a little teaser to get us hyped, and it does just that! Classic Chromeo track? Fresh new twist by professional remixers making a name for themselves? I think yes!

I’m actually very prideful to say that OLIVER hail from the city of Los Angeles. Good to know we got our own little spice of disco that’s pushing the genre’s limits worldwide. This track in particular goes back two years ago and is one of the first remixes OLIVER have ever done. Labels keeping all the goodness from us…But yeah! There goes disco again with that timeless sound. The vocals from Aeroplane’s original song vibe so well with OLIVER‘s cutting edge jams and slamming bass.

I don’t know what the deal is with all these good indie dance bands coming around recently, especially considering the fact we keep getting tickets to give away for them! Goldroom & Yuksek are set to bring the smooth funk they’re known for to the Central in LA. I’ve seen Goldroom before. Exactly what you’d expect if you know his stuff. Yuksek I love, but I have yet to see. So I want to hear about it Mr. or Mrs. Future-Contest-Winner!

I actually signed up to see Fred Falke and Flight Facilities that same night closer to my home in Costa Mesa. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO BE THE SAME NIGHT!? Turns out Flight Facilities and Yuksek are supposed to open for The Presets with OLIVER directly after their respective sets at the smaller clubs. Talk about a busy night… I’d do it if I made music! Shit. One day. Good luck!

This one was a surprise reminder that Jack Beats still have the second part of their complete album to release! They decided to release them in halves as “mini” albums. For the last half they used a mixtape to showcase what was to come, and with this they’ve done the same. With a title of Progressions, I was expecting a complete mix of new stuff to show how they’ve…progressed. The mix consisted of tracks from their most recent releases through about 75% of the whole thing. Wasn’t til the end that we heard forthcoming material. I guess that the progression for ya.

Using classic psychedelic records from the 60s and 70s, Diplo created a new mix that truly requires multiple dimensions to fully express its brilliant colors and diversely accumulated influence. No tracklist yet, but it’s worth a half hour of your time.

The days leading up to this show felt like weeks. Every once and awhile an event comes around that you are especially confident in. A show that you know is going to be at the right place, filled with the right people. At Bassnectar shows, everyone is family. And as for the Palladium? Debatably the best venue in Los Angeles. One of the world’s music capitols. I mean what else could you ask for? “A good opener!” Well, that night we just happened to be in luck: Gramatik’s been on the up and up, especially since we interviewed him, and Bassnectar wanted the crowd to have only the freshest beats as a warm up.
