I just felt the need to give southern California a heads up on this show, because for some reason it isn’t sold out yet. This is good news for everyone. Not only is there still a chance for you to get in on what’s set to be a blowout of a show, but the people who are there won’t have to worry about overcrowding! The Palladium is debatably the best venue in LA. Sound. Space. Two levels. The place is like a giant dance floor. Even when it’s sold out you can still get a great spot.

As for the talent of the night, I mean…it’s a pretty simple question: Do you like bass? Bassnectar’s music is best played loud, and when he plays live he turns that shit up to 11. The kind of energy at his shows are unparalleled. The way he holds a crowd really makes you feel like family. C+A+D favorite Gramatik will be opening up for him. It will all blend together all too well. Start off with the mellow, head bobbing jams of Gramatik, maybe light one up for a minute, and then let it all go when Bassnectar takes over our ear pussies. I’m really trying to contain my excitement here…….TWO MORE DAYS! We’ll be shooting for the evening, so expect some amazing pictures very, very soon.

Gramatik released his latest album on Pretty Lights Music, so as you could expect, it’s free. Get that complete free download by clicking here. If you like it, donate a couple bucks. I included a solid tune and probably my favorite video I’ve ever gotten of Bassnectar (Audiotistic 2010) after the jump.

P.S. You can read our Gramatik interview here.

One thing I’ll miss about college is the consistent opportunities to experience great events put on by student groups for little to nothing out of the pocket. UC Irvine’s Hip Hop Congress is bringing Urban Arts Festival back for its fourth run this year and again have packed the bill with talent.

LA’s own Pac Div will be headlining the night. Last I saw them was in ’08 opening for The Cool Kids and their performance was live as fuck to say the least. Like, Mibbs, and BeYoung never waste a verse and are so good at combining humor and honest introspection. One of the best and most likeable rap groups out there (check out the series they did on Vimeo).

Another LA local, Blu, will be the main opener for the night. At this point the man can be considered underground royalty and his Below the Heavens almost a classic.

UCI alum Azad Right and Nyne-D will start the night off. Last year’s show brought out Dom Kennedy and Fashawn in the most intimate environment you’ll get to see them. Check a (kinda shitty) video of Dom from last year below. Tickets are $5 presale (on-campus), $7 online and $10 at the door.

So Memorial Day Weekend is just about close enough that I can taste it, and there’s borderline too many events going on to choose from. If you’re like me and don’t have the disposable income to make a trip to Vegas, I highly recommend you consider going to one of the following showcases. It’s a pretty sweet selection considering how completely different each one of these shows are. So for this weekend you can get and be a part of the exact vibes you’re seeking! My choice wasn’t easy, but it needed to be done. See what’s good after the jump:

INTO THE AM is putting things together in a whole new way for us Southern Californians. Bring some household names up and down the coast, and it looks like just the beginning. They set up A-Trak in Santa Barbara a day before he goes to Sutra in OC and Voyeur in SD. If you’re anywhere in the area, a trip to Santa Barbara is in no way out of reach! I love it there…Almost too much. Still bitter I didn’t get into UCSB, but you gotta play the cards you were dealt. Anyhow, here’s how you can win:

RULES

1. Like INTO THE AM on FaceBook.
2. Like Control+Alt+Delight on FaceBook.
3. Share the post on our FaceBook. (That’s how we will keep track of entries)

If you’re not feelin’ luck, buy tickets here.

Should be a fun show! I’ve seen A-Trak countless times and plan to see him even more in the future. His sets are always so fun and different from each other. Here are the best videos I’ve gotten of him:

LA’s longest running weekly party is back again this Thursday with an especially awesome lineup. Dance Right sticks to getting the most fun DJs and caters to an overwhelmingly comfortable atmosphere. Everyone there is trying to get down and meet new like-minded people. I love that shit. Last time I was there, Treasure Fingers took the decks and I ended up losing my hat, phone, and took a cab back from LA to Orange County even though my car was down the street. Too much fun? Debatable. Scope more info and tracks after the jump..

Gesaffelstein – Control Movement

Brodinski has taken it upon himself to create a record label unlike any other. And he’s acquired the one and only Gesaffelstein to make this happen. Best part is, their debut tour is making an intimate stop Hollywood’s Key Club on January 14! I’m beyond ecstatic for this event for more reasons than one. First off, Gesaffelstein absolutely stole the show at HARD Summer this year, showing all of us exactly why he’s at the forefront of straight up European techno. I didn’t get it at first, but after seeing him live, it all became clear. This guy is the man, and he’s got the suit/bow-tie, head banging persona to back it up.

Now for Brodinski. See, I’ve only heard good things about Brodinski. I don’t know what it is, but apparently his DJ sets shed light on the future of the scene. After listening to his essential mix, I have yet to figure it out, but his song Let the Beat Control Your Body definitely sets things straight. The dude throws down. Together, at a club with a 600 person capacity, the energy will be unparalleled to any other show you could go to. At a starting price of $20 presale tickets, this one is unbeatable. Don’t waste any time and get your tickets here. Our crew will be there, so join us!

Happy Halloween from C+A+D

If you’re no stranger to these parts, you know we fux with HARD. Let’s rewind three or so years…HARD Haunted Mansion 2008. Soulwax, Justice, DJAM (RIP), Deadmau5, 2ManyDJs, sebastiAn, Boys Noize. The rave that made sense of it all for America. These artists contributed to one of the most monumental concerts I’ve ever been to, if not THE. The culture was alive and well. Not a crowd of people fighting to be in the front, but a crowd of people who were there for the love of this music. Year after year HARD puts on the best Halloween party in the world for many reasons: the vibes, the location, the venue, the artists, the people. All of these have kept me going for the last three years and will keep me going for years to come. This year’s lineup is stacked with HARD classics and the future of legit electro from around the world. Yeah, we’ll be there both days. Here’s our map of where we’re going to be and why you should be there too.

If you want to get the separate playlists we made for each night, go to our facebook! They’re posted in the photos.
