As if BBC wasn’t already doing enough showcasing the very best in the EDM scene, Pete Tong is taking it to the next level by streaming live sets. When I first saw that Porter Robinson was dropping an Essential mix live last night, I almost dropped my cup noodles. The entire hour I was on my feet because the pace never slowed. Banger after banger, unreleased material was flying around like seagulls at the beach. Incorporating over thirty tracks, Porter truly showed the world he’s a master behind the decks.

I’m not sure how Oakland based trio ‘Beats Antique’ have managed to slip under my radar for this long, but Zoe Jakes, David Satori and Sidecar Tommy have been forging a musical coalition of middle eastern influenced glitchy breakbeat. These kids are not your typical experimental world fusion band, they describe their sound as, “electro, xfunctional, acoustic, hip-hop, melodramatic, down tempo-freakness, world, gypsy, funk, vulcan, get down off your butt, sound.”

Make sure to catch these kids on day 3 (Sunday) of Coachella 12’.

DC & Hooks of Zeds Dead are releasing their new EP tomorrow. The four-track chef-d’oeuvre is appropriately titled ‘Adrenaline’ and is the perfect way to wrap up their epic ‘Graveyard Tour,’ which included more than fifty venues and enough bass to crush a family of Peruvian gorillas. Sure, the EP is only a measely 15 minutes long, but ZD will be releasing a free mixtape shortly on top of a huge Spring tour with Memorecks.

There’s nothing that I love to do more than support local talent. With that in mind, I give you Scully. This kid is 21 years old and has been wreckin’ the subversive Isla Vista party scene and it’s indigenous people. Recently, Scully decided to start makin’ his own beats and wow, what a brilliant decision that was. Huge synths and filthy bass lines fuse in perfect unison, taking energy levels to new heights.

In my opinion, the most beautiful songs are the ones that can evoke emotion.

Well there’s this kid Jonwayne, and he’s nourishing a profound inclination for a dark, twisted nintendo fantasy. His new EP (released late last year), The Death Of Andrew, contains six tracks with a strong cohesive tone, a rare feat for any young producer. Ominous chord progressions, lightly sugarcoated by vivid synth stabs and retro 8-bit trimmings, The Death Of Andrew delicately balances on the fence between menacing and comical.
