You’d find Rhymesayers’ Brother Ali by flipping to ‘U’ in a dictionary, hovering somewhere between ‘underappreciated’ and ‘underrated.’ It’s my belief that his style is simply unluckily living in the wrong era of hip-hop, where substance has given way to style. The Minnesotan just released a free EP, The Bite Marked Heart, a seven track project that further displays his soulful lyrical ability that shows its face through skilled storytelling and writing rather than abstract metaphors.
