asher roth

Couple new videos dropped today:

First is Fashawn – “Down That Road,” the catchiest song off his last mixtape, Higher Learning 2. The track features Sam Hook on the… hook which works well as a complement to Fash. Leaked yesterday but was removed quickly, this is the final version. Check it below.

Next is the visual representation of “Rooftops,” the track from 18 year-old Luke Christopher ft. Asher Roth. 2 and a half minute video of the two rhyming from where you’d expect. Keep an eye out for Christopher in the coming months, dude’s got talent.

BONUS

2 Unreleased tracks from Big Sean. Both sound like his earlier work. If you liked Finally Famous: The Mixtape you’ll like these.

Starting off the Weekly Wake Up today, a fresh series that’ll kickstart every week by highlighting an artist on the rise that you may have heard of but deserves a second look and some more plays. We’ll start off with someone you’ve definitely heard of… this week, don’t sleep on the epitome of ‘white boy swag,’ Asher Roth. The Philadelphia, PA native has been holdin’ it down for the suburbs and college kids for a few years now. After gracing the coveted XXL Freshman Cover in ’09, Roth became a household name when his frat-anthem “I Love College” flooded the radio later that year. Asher distinguishes himself by delivering conscious raps that tend to stray from typical “rapper material.” He blends wordsmith talent with songwriting ability, as can be seen both in his EP with Nottz Raw, Rawth, and his most popular mixtape, The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 1. Although some may dub his style and content ‘soft,’ there’s no denying his lyrical skills and smoother than keystone flow. Based off his recent offerings, his second studio album looks promising — look out for it later this year and check him out on Twitter (@asherroth) for the occasional drop.

Big Sean officially released the second song off his upcoming Finally Famous: The Album yesterday, titled “I Do It.” The beat utilizes his signature phrase; he’s had better verses but there’s a couple lines in there that’ll get you smirkin’. Expecting him to blast into stardom after the album releases. Gonna be a crazy summer… boi!
