Skinny Genes

After coining the genre “Nu Jump Up” and defining what can be considered legitimate moombahton, Dillon Francis is back to his roots with this one. Quality dub coming straight off his Euro tour. I got a test in 4 hours, and I should be sleeping, but I couldn’t hold off on letting you guys get a taste of this. It’s crazy how established Dillon’s gotten in such a short amount of time and how clear the heights he can reach are. Last person I know that’s got this much all around love so quick is Skrillex, and Dillon’s following in his footsteps quicker than I expected. Can’t wait til this is released!

BONUS FRANCIS!

Steve Aoki, Rivers Cuomo – Earthquakey People (Dillon Francis Remix)

This one came out a bit ago, but I didn’t have the chance to grab the final version when it came out. Dillon said this is his favorite remix that he’s done, while I think it’s arguably his best. Definitely worth saving.

Got probably the most exciting press email I’ve ever gotten yesterday. Anyone who’s been following our recent posts on these guys knows about our unconditional love for Knife Party. I got to have a taste test of the two unreleased tracks, ‘Destroy Them With Lazers’ and ‘Fire Hive,’ and all I can say is that surpassed any and all high expectations I had already set. Pretty sure these guys have found their niche. Check out the teaser, along with some fun facts and tracks they’ve previously released!

One more thing! Go vote for them on Wobbleland’s FaceBook so they bring them to Nor Cal in the Spring! Last year Wobbleland had Skrillex, Nero, Datsik, and 12th Planet and was probably the most fun dubstep show I have EVER been to. GO! GO!

There’s something about the idea of D-Day that always stuck with me. Just being in those boats to shore. Thinking about how your whole life, all you accomplishments, your failures have been built up to that moment. Thinking about how everything could come to an end before you even have a chance to do anything about it. Scary contemplation…Anyway yeah, this song instantly made me think of that picture (above) I had saved. It’s not too farfetched once you listen. I can hear the guy at the hatch as they hit the sand: “KICK OUT THE EPIC MOTHER F*CKER!” And all hell breaks loose. Well today D-Day is Dada Day! The epic motherf*ckers have done it yet again.

Happy Sunday everyone! Just content on being alive after back to back nights with Porter Robinson at Sutra in OC and Boys Noize at the Music Box in LA. Bummed I had to miss Porter last night with The M Machine, but his show at Sutra made up for it in more ways than one. Did anyone go to the Music Box last night? How was it?? Boys Noize was sold out on Friday, but there was still a lot of room to party/dance. Though, I have a feeling it was a bit crazier last night considering Porter’s recent boosts.

ALSO! I used to think you can only dream about news like this. Black Keys announce a North American tour that is being backed up by opening sets from ARCTIC MONKEYS!! That’s the kind of rock revival tour this country needs. Every stop is going to be at an arena. Kinda bums me out that I never got to see Black Keys or Arctic Monkeys at a more intimate venue. I doubt I’ll get that opportunity, but I’ll keep dreaming! Shit part is, all the shows out are on the east coast. WHY! I’ve never been to NY though. Almost willing to fly there for this. Anyhow, dates are below. Enjoy #72!

March 2 – Cincinnati, OH @ U.S. Bank Arena

March 3 – Detroit, MI @ Joe Louis Arena
March 4 – Columbus, OH @ Jerome Schottenstein Center

March 6 – Portland, ME @ Cumberland Co. Civic Center
March 7 – Boston, MA @ TD Garden
March 9 – Washington, DC @ Verizon Center
March 10 – Philadelphia, PA @ Wells Fargo Center
March 12 – New York, NY @ Madison Square Garden
March 13 – Montreal, QC @ Bell Centre
March 14 – Toronto, ON @ Air Canada Centre
March 16 – Indianapolis, IN @ Conesco Fieldhouse
March 18 – Grand Rapids, MI @ Van Andel Arena
March 19 – Chicago, IL @ United Center

The thought of how much is going on in the next week and how much work I have to do is overwhelming…almost to the point of wanting to do nothing. You know that feeling? Naturally I’ve dove into several mixes to try and get me through it. One that’s coming out next week, one that I probably won’t say unless you ask, and another one I’m about to share. I’ve always trusted Treasure Fingers mixes, which makes me wonder way I waited so long to listen to his EU Tour Nov 2011 Mix? To be honest I don’t think this could have came at a better time. If you’ve been keeping up with our disco house posts as of late, this is going to be a treat. The first five seconds sets the tone for the entire ride, and it just gets better. I’m jealous as f*ck +Jangbar got to meet the mastermind and score this interview for us.

This mix is downloadable! Just hit the down arrow on the player. If you like this stuff, let us know on our FaceBook Page. There’s much more where this came from! I just don’t want to overwhelm you…I know how it is. haha

BONUS FINGERS

Treasure Fingers – Take My Hand
Classixx – I’ll Get You (Treasure Fingers Remix)
Treasure Fingers – Lift Me (Original Mix)
N.A.S.A. – Gifted (Treasure Fingers Remix) Delightful Choice!

Gesaffelstein – Control Movement

Brodinski has taken it upon himself to create a record label unlike any other. And he’s acquired the one and only Gesaffelstein to make this happen. Best part is, their debut tour is making an intimate stop Hollywood’s Key Club on January 14! I’m beyond ecstatic for this event for more reasons than one. First off, Gesaffelstein absolutely stole the show at HARD Summer this year, showing all of us exactly why he’s at the forefront of straight up European techno. I didn’t get it at first, but after seeing him live, it all became clear. This guy is the man, and he’s got the suit/bow-tie, head banging persona to back it up.

Now for Brodinski. See, I’ve only heard good things about Brodinski. I don’t know what it is, but apparently his DJ sets shed light on the future of the scene. After listening to his essential mix, I have yet to figure it out, but his song Let the Beat Control Your Body definitely sets things straight. The dude throws down. Together, at a club with a 600 person capacity, the energy will be unparalleled to any other show you could go to. At a starting price of $20 presale tickets, this one is unbeatable. Don’t waste any time and get your tickets here. Our crew will be there, so join us!

Yesterday was only good things. Justice tour announced, new YOLO List, and after I thought it couldn’t get any better, Treasure Fingers releases this remix he did for Foster the People! The first time he brought it up was when Jangbar interviewed him at his stop in LA a month ago. You can scope that interview here. This remix isn’t as mind blowing as I had hoped it to be, but still an essential addition to any house collection you may have. Treasure Fingers has that golden touch when it comes to throwing in that extra dancy taste. Light pianos, extra bass and Foster the People takes care of the rest. I love when two worlds come together in an epic, atmospheric collision, so this song is a sound for sore ears.
