This whole college being over with thing is really starting to hit me. Not in a bad way necessarily, but just in a…I-should-really-start-thinking-about-what-I-want-to-do-with-the-abyss-of-time-that-follows way. Time to make dreams come true and shit. My plan of escape begins now! Trying to save up and travel around south America in September. See if I can expand my mental capacity further. Good thing is I’ll still be able to do this even on the other side of world! I just hope I’ll still be able to go to shows and stuff there. F*ck. I need it. Here I am, thinking out loud. Enjoy #102, friends:

My friend got to study abroad in Europe over fall, and like me, he was obsessed with the idea of immersing himself in a culture he was unfamiliar with. That’s why I was surprised when he said his favorite place that he visited was the UK. Apparently there is something there that is intertwined with the music scene that made it such a desirable location to settle in…and probably because they spoke English and it was just easier.

Regardless, it’s undeniable that the UK has a knack for birthing some of the more cutting edge music to travel through the interweb. And here we have Disclosure. Two brothers taking UK garage music and adding their own futuristic, even dream-like take on the sound. Each track is filled with soulful vocals that are too easy to get lost in. When I got their debut Free-P (Download Here), they didn’t really hit home with me. It wasn’t until the release of their latest The Face – EP ’til it all made sense. That being said, start with The Face first. Sit back. Chill out. Let Disclosure take over your mind, body and soul after the jump::

So the lease is up on my house and I was supposed to be out of here by 12 PM and it’s almost 4 now. Naturally, I’m looking for new music and my favorite rising star chose to go at another Steve Aoki tune. Even though his more recent works have strayed away from his bouncy moombahton sound I fell in love with, even though he’s kind of an asshole, I still stand by him. He’s pushing the envelope with his antics, but he’s still putting out hard hitting jams. This one in particular goes back to that bouncy style that I can’t get enough of. Reminds me of his earlier remixes like “She Blows (Whistle Tune)” and “Take It Back.” I was looking to download it online, but I figured this track was good enough to purchase.

Buy it now on BeatPort! Only $2. |‘Like’ His facebook. The dude is comedy.

Happy days friends! Still a trip to see I’ve broke into the century mark with these lists…next milestone: 1000! I’ll do it. Just you watch. It was nice to find some time to go hunting for new music last week. I feel like I haven’t done that in awhile. I don’t know why? I think I just got out of the usual loop of things, because of how busy life has been as of late. Plus, being caught up on T.E.E.D.’s album ‘Trouble’ didn’t help. I haven’t been able to give that album a rest! Anyhow, #101 got a little bit of this, and a lotta bit of that, so find something new, eh? It’s on us:

Alright guys…good to be back. For all who hadn’t noticed, I wasn’t able to get up a playlist last week after I got back from EDC. It was straight to the books for my last set of finals before I graduated from college! Crazy. Life is happening. I hate to make excuses, but hell, I’m not perfect. Neither are you! But that’s ok. I still love you. SO much so, that I’ve gathered up twice the usual amount of energizing tunage for this week’s list. Thought this one deserved to be special, because I finally hit the century mark. It feels like just yesterday when I got back from Audiotistic 2010 and did YOLO2 in the wee hours of the night because I couldn’t fall asleep. It was from that moment on that I knew I would want to do this for as long as possible. I just love music so much, and sharing it with like minded people just never gets old.

Oh by the way! Got a treat for our Southern California readers. There is a line of free shows headed our way in July: Moby, Portugal. the Man, Band of Skulls, and Raphael Saadiq. Alls you have to do is RSVP by clicking here! Pretty cool, huh? Just a lil summin’ summin’ to fill up your spare time this summer. It’s setting up to be a damn good one! Until then, enjoy #100.

Now here’s an artist that always gets me the weirdest look when I try to share him with a friend. “‘Totally Dino’ what?” It’s worth spreading, though, to everyone who’s willing to listen. He’s got a style that you won’t find anywhere else; a bass line crafted special for every song. Born Orlando Higginbottom, but otherwise known by his stage name as Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (T.E.E.D.) His debut album Trouble is finally out today! Thanks to the music gods I got my hands on an early release and have been waiting to share the review. Check our praise of the album and the tracklist after the jump:

iTunes also made his single ‘Stronger’ the Single of the week!

I just have to make it through these next few weeks and then it will officially be my last Summer as I know it now. The summer after I graduate from college and before I step into the part of my life that depends entirely on what I make of it. I’m ready! ‘Til then…I got Outside Lands (tickets) in San Francisco and HARD Summer (tickets) if I play my cards right. Both of which have been traditions since 2008. Shits getting real. Enjoy #98 everyone. I hope you find something new that you like.
