Feed Me having a brand of cigarettes would be pretty fitting. I liken listening to the array of sounds the little fucker puts together to something similar to smoking a cigarette. Gotta inhale deep (pay close attention) to get the full effect of the nicotine (understand the genius). Hits hard in all the key body parts – lungs/nervous system/heart/brain. And first timers would find themselves struggling for breath. He and Gemini produced a winner here. If you were to blend senses, this track is kinda sweet, kinda sour – like auditory watermelon sour patch kids. I don’t really know how to explain that. The ‘drop’ is some rhythmic filth. This is off his new EP, out February 6th. He’s about to head out on tour with his Teeth set which is massive – check out a video of it and the check the tour dates after the jump.

Logic‘s one of those few artists that when you first come across immediately captivate your attention like a 20 mg XR adderall. You look up at the clock after travelling through a YouTube pipeline and you’ve lost all sunlight for the day. He’s got something good cookin. Old school sound with new school flavor. The flow is “elegant, never irrelevant,” and borderline aurally hypnotizing. The passion for lyricism is obvious even to the most oblivious. Pushes the message of peace & positivity and the confidence is based off of ability not possessions. Dude is nice, plain and simple. Check his new video for Young Sinatra III and grab his Young Sinatra tape below if you haven’t.

I usually would stay away from remixes of an album as clean start to finish as Nero’s Welcome Reality, but “Must Be the Feeling” just got some remix treatment from UK’s Delta Heavy and it’s got me all giddy. There’s two things I love to do when listening to electronic music: bang my head and get down on the dance floor. Delta Heavy accomplishes both; Must Be the Feeling already had cemented itself as my favorite from the album by combining these two things so well with an 80s feel. Delta Heavy’s remix takes the original feel and turns it into a little moombahton, a little thrash — what’re the kids calling that shit now, moombahcore? — and a costco sized red bull of energy. Plus it’s Free.99. Their other tracks jump around genres and deserve to be in the library.

12th Planet‘s been pretty instrumental in pushing forward the US dubstep scene and keeps it rollin with his latest (free) release, The End Is Near EP. He links up with a bunch of different producers (Flinch, Antiserum, Juakali, SPL) with the fattest track coming via a collab with Skillex and Kill the Noise. Keeps it pretty melodic while simultaneously thrashing your earlobes for 20 minutes. It’s 2012, the end is near. Bass the fuck out of your face while you still can.

A few months back, we heard audio versions of the theme song for EA Sports’ upcoming Syndicate from Skrillex and Digitalism. The action game is set in the year 2069, which is fitting because I’m sure that’s around the time people were expecting we’d be listening to this brand of robot-orgy music. Luckily for us evolution and shit is happening at an exponential rate so we get the glory of hearing all the robot ear p0rn today. Anyways, the track just got a third remix treatment from Flux Pavilion and it’s everything you’d want from him – a little dancy with his blaring signature sound. Check all three, I can’t decide a favorite.

Big Gigantic just released Nocturnal, the latest in their series of free albums. Producer/saxaphone player Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken come together to produce a medley of groove that lays sexy synths on top of thick beats with an unmistakeable soulful sax. Listening to this album is its own experience, with tastes of electronic, dubstep, hip-hop, and jazz sprinkled throughout. The sax really adds such a unique element – it helps the music speak in ways that most electronic music can’t. Gotta love ingenuitive producers… never thought brass, bass, bleeps, and bloops could come together so harmoniously; this album just bangs from start to finish. If they’re coming through to your town at any point (check) in the near future don’t fuck up and miss it. Still haven’t gotten to see them but the live performance videos speak for themselves (see below).

“13 yr old me getting a book signed by KRS ONE. 1991. He brought me on stage and wrote in my book “To Jason. Unite Humanity, KRS-ONE”. I’m doing the best I can, Kris!” – Brother Ali’s Facebook

Two new drops from Rhymesayers’ Brother Ali. I used to be a big fan years back but have since lost touch — shame on me, I’m spinning Shadows on the Sun and The Undisputed Truth the rest of the night. “Writer’s Block” showcases his powerful voice and almost unmatched writing ability. “Sweet (Potato Pie)” is his take on Common’s Drake diss, “Sweet.” (‘Squash the beef, increase the piece’). Music with a message, take a much needed break from swag rap. Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color coming soon.

Brother Ali – Writer’s Block
Brother Ali – Sweet (Potato Pie)

Bonus

Common and Drake’s back and forth. I’m siding with Common… no explanation necessary. Canada Dry!
